Its not unreasonable to assume that the cars ahead are going to fill up the space available, is it now. You assess the space, and decide, yes, there is more than enough room for my car. But you didn't factor in other people's breathtakingly arrogant, stupid and inconsiderate driving.

The sad thing is, they probably aren't even aware of the problem their terrible driving created, and they'll probably do exactly the same thing tomorrow. They probably never even looked in their mirror.

    Think about other road users.
Leaving enough space between you and the car ahead so that, should they break down, you can pull out around them isn't breathtakingly arrogant, stupid and inconsiderate, it's just sensible.

Breathtakingly arrogant, stupid and inconsiderate would be the traffic ahead reversing into the space on the other side of the junction you were going into.

You seem to be completely aware that most other road users are in fact awful drivers, but unable to make allowances for them in your own driving. In my mind that doesn't make you much better than those you consider arrogant, stupid and inconsiderate.

Bad drivers are either those I'd label as incompetent or inconsiderate.

In some circumstances. But not when you've just cleared a set of traffic lights. In this scenario I (and every other good driver) would pull as close to the car in front as necessary as to allow as many cars behind to clear the lights as possible. This is just basic courtesy.

What are you saying: a) that you would deliberately not pull forward and cause an obstruction just to "teach people a lesson", or b) that you simply never think about anyone else, or c) do you actually agree with me and are just arguing for the sake of being a knob?

Please, try and be aware of other drivers around you.

    1. People who can't stick to a consistent speed.
    2. Driving without lights when it's pitch black.
    3. Texting/facebooking while driving.
    4. People who tailgate you aggressively when you're doing 30 in a 30 zone.
    5. Running red lights. This happens all the time, especially when I'm driving home from work late at night. Serious angers me.

Morons (typically chavs in modified corsa's and fiesta's) that sit up your arse with their front fogs and high beams on when you're driving at night. Usually I tap the rear fog lights on until they get the message.

As I tend to do most of my driving in the evening my biggest gripe with bad drivers is those who don't dip their high beams for other road users.

people that just don't understand the concept of 'you give way to your right at a roundabout'.

I was at a roundabout the other day and someone behind me was beeping when there were still cars coming from my right. When I did mange to get out, he tailgated me down the road and then overtook and cut straight across my lane to go up a side road. arararrarghhh

also, people that don't indicate on roundabouts, meaning you wait for them to go and they end up going left.

and people that beep at you and make you panic and feel bad, even though you aren't doing anything wrong, they're just in a bad mood/extremely impatient.

People call me a bad driver, due to the fact that I failed my driving test FIVE TIMES!

    And because i'm female, obviously

Just 5? I failed it 9, and passed on my 10th apparently, but I can't even remember all the tests. They are a blur. I seriously don't remember sitting in there 10 times waiting, but I must have done, unless my instructor remembered wrong.
I do know I had to take my theory twice though in the time it took me to pass because it had expired.

Two similar things that annoy me:

when people don't realise that the "give way to your right" only applies to people already on the roundabout.

when there are two exit lanes, and there are cars coming round the roundabout into the right hand lane, you realise you can pull out into the left hand lane, right?

are you sure you weren't making either of these two mistakes? People don't normally just beep you for the fun of it.

Re: What would you call a 'bad driver'
    Anybody who:

    - Drives in the middle lane regardless of their speed, and regardless of whether there's anybody to overtake
    - Drives on the fast lane below the speed limit, then refuses to pull over to let you past when you come up behind them AT the speed limit... then looks horrified when you're forced to undertake them
    - People who pull straight into the fast lane from the sliproad, without building up sufficient speed to be there, leaving you to brake ridiculously hard to avoid rear-ending them
    - Doesn't have any lane discipline on roundabouts, leaving you having to swerve to miss them
    - Takes half an hour to park in a car park, leaving you waiting for ages to get past them.
    - Doesn't indicate properly on roundabouts
    - Takes up more than one parking space in a car park, especially annoying when it's the last space in the car park.
    - People who don't pay attention to filter lanes, and just sit there at the front until everybody behind them starts tooting.

I do realise. its just that where I live the people coming from my right use both the left and right lanes.

it's hard to explain. there was a queue of traffic in front of me, whenever a gap appeared someone from the right came and butted in :P the people from the right kind of stop on the roundabout, there are road markings which say to leave a gap for the people in the lane to my right, who were going all the way round :P

people who are in the right hand lane of a dual carriageway approaching a roundabout, intending to come off at the same exit as you (who is in the left lane). which is fine, but not when they cut right into your lane without looking and come off the roundabout in the left lane - causing you to brake harshly to avoid them crashing into you.

happened the other day to me with a bus, ffs mirrors are there to be used.

Yeah it was the same for me. I got incredibly nervous with the examiner there and did stupid things I wouldn't otherwise do. Failed on some really daft things.

I feel I'm a much better driver for it though, but not sure how true that statement is HAHA..

Not sure. I don't have the paperwork now, and my room isn't exactly the cleanest places, so I just put the paper on top of my desk and hoped they'd stay there, but a lot probably didn't.
I really cannot remember taking that many tests though.

oh, and people who don't indicate when they want to park and just slam on the brakes and start reversing into you without checking their mirrors.

also didn't help that this was on a hill and my car struggles in reverse anyway and stalled twice trying to get out their way  meanwhile, I am the one getting dirty looks from the passengers of the other car?!

They main point I have found in this thread is that I am impressed by your ability to experience road rage whilst not even on the road. Are you in some kind of perpetual rage-state?

If you don't give people feedback on their poor driving habits, how are they supposed to improve?
