Because I was born in a non-eu country, actually it's ISE at Imperial, combines computing and Electronics engineering.

IC has different rules to UCL re where you were born?

ISE is very different to EEE!

Nope I'm paying international fees for both. Are you at Imperial?
Then you won't be financially better off studying at UCL, as I thought you said you would be earlier.

International fees at Imperial are higher, about 7000 more per year, but that's just one side of it. I think UCL also has more of an 'university environment' than ICL, more chance to get involved in extra curricular activities, and a great Econ department/society/alumni which could be potentially more useful in getting into finance. But I'm not sure about the last line...
IC is situated in the most affluent part of London and so if you're from abroad, you'll feel very safe.

UCL is in Central London, crime is still low but the area is noticeably different. It's more crowded, noisier and generally less chic.

On the social side, there is a lot more going on at UCL than IC, plus it's more likely you'll be mixing with students from other London colleges such as SOAS, SEESS, LSE and King's as they're close by.

As for career, both would get you an interview so there's nothing between the two.

IC is a specialist science uni and comes with it, a certain amount of prestige.

If you intend to live near the uni, I would choose IC.

Attractions include:

Harrods
Hyde Park / Kensington Gardens
Sloane Square / King's Road
Hight Street Kensington
Holland Park
Knightsbridge

It's an extremely pleasant area to live, especially during the Spring and Summer months.

Yes, a degree from Imperial looks better than a degree from UCL - particularly in the subject area you have chosen. I received offers from both and am very glad I chose Imperial, because I believe the equivalent of my degree from UCL would not have got me my current job.

Now if your solo objective is to land an IB job then take Imperial. If social life etc is important to you then take UCL - you are by no means ruled out of IB if you do.

For the record, Imperial EEE gets a fair few into IB each year.

Why do you think that?

Comparing UCL and Imperial is like comparing apples and oranges.

These two universities are ok.

But not necessarily in the same league as:

Polytechnique

Similar at Deutsche, CS and UBS. There tends to be alot of Polytechnicien representation on any quant team at American banks. The latter are often a preferred destination of El-Karouites when compared to European firms.

Yes there a lot of them, there are also many people from top uk/us schools including Imperial.
Besides not all the El karaouites are polytechniciens.

Yes - not all El Karouites are X-iens but it is the most well-represented feeder school.

Quite rare you will see a 'quant' from UCL (though he/she - usually he, could have a UCL undergrad) when compared to from Imperial. Quite a few quants with a PhD from Imperial (or even MMath) have licences/Master 1 done at Polytechnique.

Look this is not an uninteresting conversation but I'll stop there as as long as there is no quantitative evidence that 'UCL/Imperial are not in the same league as Polytechnique" or that " exo desks are dominated by a Polytechniciens" we'll go in circles.

Plus I doubt the op is interested in Polytechnique as he was enquiring about Imperial vs UCL and not Imperial/ UCL vs Polytechnique.

Loool UCl students are the dearest subject of ICL banter

1) You're not at ICL

2) ICL banter? Atleast we're getting laid.

EDIT: I realize it's a year ago, but still

Imperial is more prestigious than UCL. Pretty big advantage if you want to work in IB FO or MBB.
