Re: OCR F297 Strategic Management Case Study Thread 2012Yes.(Original post by aim123)
shouldn't the final est be 142 days and not 141? -
Re: OCR F297 Strategic Management Case Study Thread 2012I talk about how the fact the nature of the business SLSL is in makes it hard for them to do this, as many of the activities on the critical path are out of SLSL's hands e.g. conveyancing and viewing, which is dependent on how quickly solicitors and vendors are, which SLSL cannot control. This would be a point on why SLSL may not necessarily benefit from using CPA as a analytical tool.(Original post by seanaffleck)
I was wondering what everyone's ideas were on 'Speeding up the critical path analysis'
APT doesnt really give any major points to talk about :/ -

I was wondering what everyone's ideas were on 'Speeding up the critical path analysis'
APT doesnt really give any major points to talk about :/
Basically they can't really do a lot because the first half depends on the state of the housing market - like the time it takes to get viewings and buyers and the second half is all external organisations like solicitors etc
SLSL can chase up the solicitors etc and try to hurry them along but they may not listen. They may be able to hurry the buyers solicitor by threatening to remove the acceptance of offer but that may risk the sale collapsing.
In the APT it does say about SLSL's marketing and how this could impact on how quick the process is, I guess it means how quick to get people looking at it etc so an option could be to look at their marketing. Also the APT talks about benchmarking as a way of speeding up the process but overall there is not really much they can do as most of it is out of their control!
Hope this helps a little bit! -

Re: OCR F297 Strategic Management Case Study Thread 2012
My teacher told me that 61/90 was a D in this paper. Not sure if that is true as that is a very high mark for a low grade.
I have one question, if I simply cannot answer the question, would it be worth writing an evaluation even if I dont write an answer to the question? or will the examiner simply disregard any points made in the evaluation (I would use the LOSER acronym) -
Re: OCR F297 Strategic Management Case Study Thread 2012do we have to draw this if it asks for the critical path(Original post by bigalr)
Oh what the hell, basically the critical path is 1,2,3,5,6,9,11,12
To clearly show the critical path then you need to put lines through that path clearly.
In this photo the thick black lines clearly indicate the critical path and my teacher advised that you draw this on the diagram, or I am planning to draw one personally and then put those lines in which clearly shows the critical path, does that make sense?
Can I just point out that the critical path lines in this are so thick because its clearly showing how to do them, you obviously wouldn't do them that thick in the exam... -
Re: OCR F297 Strategic Management Case Study Thread 2012I don't think 61/90 would be a D, that is too high. Also, what is the LOSER acronym?(Original post by supermagma)

Re: OCR F297 Strategic Management Case Study Thread 2012If there's 2 hours for an exam and 90 marks, that's 1 and a bit minutes per mark(Original post by sophiakhan)
I am mostly worried about time on this exam as i take a while to write my essays
what do people recommend on spending on each essay?
So 17 minutes for the 13 marker, 24 minutes or so for each of the 18 marks, and around 30 mins for the last question. -
Re: OCR F297 Strategic Management Case Study Thread 2012I'd say the 61 is UMS marks, not raw marks. So around 61/120 for a D sounds about right converted to UMS.(Original post by blackstarz245)

Re: OCR F297 Strategic Management Case Study Thread 2012
Can someone please provide me with a simple essay structure to follow in this exam please. In the other 3 i used a thing called the sledgehammer approach where you simply link everything back to profit. In the others i got A, B, B however in January i only got a D using this technique. Please help.

Re: OCR F297 Strategic Management Case Study Thread 2012I have seen quite a few people have 3 for node 7 aswell, however i have 20 also.(Original post by aim123)
shouldn't node 7 be 3 as the earliest starting time?
Isn't it 17 + 3? -
Re: OCR F297 Strategic Management Case Study Thread 2012No... the earliest you can start the activity is 3 days into the project + the 17 days needed for Task D, leaves you with the earliest time you can leave node 7 as 20.(Original post by aim123)
