Well, just my opinion.I think Durham's website is not a beauty, compared to other unis.
The font is somehow old-fashioned,some of the pics are fuzzy, and some colours don't match the major colour(purple).
I know the official website should be formal, but it seems too simple and brief.

    What's your opinion?

Nope, I think it is fine. I chose Durham because it is different.

Pretty bad website, ive never liked it although its been made better recently. When I applied there the website was horrible.

    It looks fine here: http://www.dur.ac.uk/
Then suddenly its awful here: http://www.dur.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/

It wouldnt even be so bad if it actually followed a style but it doesnt.

I think this is one of those cases where they started making a new style for the website, but haven't gotten around to updating all the pages yet.

And if you think that's bad, have a look at our student union website...

    Agreed.

It's not a big deal, but they may as well give it a makeover.

I think the union's website's pretty good - solid background colour (unlike the university's white background), professional, easy to find the different links, new things rolling on the front page, and about a million times better than the old union website.

Durham Business School website seems to be going in the right direction, still not great but certainly better than the main site. I dont like the whole lowercase navigation thing, can look alright on some websites but not a professional university website (I actually do web design professionally too, just saying )

Okay, I admit it's gotten a lot better within the last couple of months, now that they've actually added most of the content back in; although last time I tried logging in and buying tickets and stuff, it went very badly.

I actually think it's a darn site better then it (the university website) was when I applied in 2002 (though only just).

Durham doesn't seem to place much value in its website and presentation (and it was the same then, there are basic things, such as the name of Queen's Campus, which they didn't bother updating for a year). Or the people in chage of the website are incompetent.

To be honest, most university websites aren't that great. Oxford is the best by a mile.

    That is horrific.

I agree many universities have poor websites but its really not hard to create one which shows information clearly and is easy to navigate, it was impossible to find email addresses for people you dont know the name of on Durhams site when I applied (2009). I just looked now and its significantly better:
    http://www.dur.ac.uk/courses/2012/in...=BSc&year=2012

Also, im pretty sure some second year CS students had a project which involved a redesign of the website and presenting it to whoever is in charge of it, im guessing nothing ever came about of it or hasnt done yet anyway. My memory is terrible so dont quote me on that.
