Re: HOTBOX Festival Volunteers 2012!
Hey guys, do you know if sleeping and tent facilities (other than the campsite and amenities such as showers, cafeteria... etc.) are provided for crew members or is it our duty to bring them - also my friends are going to the festival as non-volunteers so is it possible for me to camp with them ?

Re: HOTBOX Festival Volunteers 2012!
Just had it confirmed that I'm doing Leeds festival as a Hotbox Steward after applying for the volunteering through Hotbox.
First time I've done it, and it is just me, no friends. Just wondering what this role entails, and what it's like not going with friends.
Thanks -

I'm going with a group of people, but I don't know most of them :roll eyes: so we're in a pretty similar boat!

Re: HOTBOX Festival Volunteers 2012!
I'm also planning to volunteer alone this year, not really sure how this works. Do I need to bring my own tent etc. for just me then hope to meet other people when I get there? Or would it be better to maybe find other people to share with beforehand :s don't want to end up by myself all weekend!

Re: HOTBOX Festival Volunteers 2012!Only just saw this as you didn't quote me aha(Original post by mh7254)
What kinda of stuff did you take/how much? Like, did you take any cooking equipment or phones, cameras etc?
But yes i took a small stove for food, but there's access to plug sockets and a kettle for hot water & I took my iphone, like most people and just charged it onsite or at the vodafone stand
I didn't take my camera because its an slr so its not allowed into arenas normally but plenty of others did. And as for money, only a small amount but only to cover extra food, and I also took alcohol with me!
I'd recommend waterproofs and plenty of jumpers too for the night/late shift! the hour before sunrise is the coldest! -

Re: HOTBOX Festival Volunteers 2012!Nope! Don't normally do things like this, but it'll be worth it. Ouch that's early(Original post by cpdavis)
Thanks
Have you done it before? I'm coming up the Wednesday, so I'll be leaving London at 7.05
I might go Tuesday evening to avoid an early start haha

Re: HOTBOX Festival Volunteers 2012!
Just sent my application off tonight for Leeds! Solo volunteer so will be nice to meet other people! One question though, I know your not allowed to camp out of the staff area while you have shifts to do but say I finish my shifts on Friday or Saturday, can I then camp outside the staff area for the remaining nights? Thanks

Re: HOTBOX Festival Volunteers 2012!
Just applied to work at Leeds, though I'm waiting to put my deposit down until I have some money or can convince one of my lazy friends to come with.
I've applied to hand out free beer and breakfast rolls, although I worked as a CAT a couple of years ago if anyone has any questions
I don't see why not; you have access to everywhere! I was also thinking of doing this - just a case of lugging your stuff from one end of the festival to the other which will probably take at least 30 mins lol.(Original post by Harpoon)
