Given that I've never seen a post from Sharri5 that isn't comically chauvinistic and offensive...

I can smell the neg(s) coming, but as this has been a cathartic experience I'll call it an even trade.

Typical british behavior of not being able to take criticism. This is why the UK fails. Too much arrogance for your own good.

Except for the fact that the UK has wrought their racism on the world, raping the land and people as they went about colonizing. The horror that GB brought is shocking. It's the type of arrogance that unfortunately is still presence in many brits who long for the days of colonization--- aka unleashing brutality on the world. The UK is easily one of the most racist places in the world. The treatment of immigrants is astounding. The lack of creativity is even worst. British society as a whole is trash. Wrought with idiots pissing in the street, 13 year old alcoholics. An idiot society is what the UK has become. That's a fact. The UK should be ashamed of the pain it has wrought in many nations, effects that are still seen today. I'd definitely argue that the UK is a failed experiment, one that will ultimately collapse in no less than 45-50 years. The US telling the UK to get the **** out was a blessing. No success would have been had being under the brutality of the US. By god, we had a right to country.

Finished? Time for bed :yep:

You're genuinely amazing. I'm an American.

Note: having pointed out pretty much irrefutably that Sharri5's response is both ignorant and silly, I has received no further communication. Ah, reality checks: how I love thee.

NONESENSE!
Before the British took over India, it had one of the largest global economies in the world. Great source of rare metals.
At the end of colonial rule, India inherited an economy that was one of the poorest in the developing world. Just goes to show how much the British looted from the Indian territories!

You gonna support that nonsense with some empirical data?

India despite being an economic power prior to colonization, would have rapidly fallen behind had they remained uncolonized, as they would have not gone through the process of industrialization. This phenomenon is very blatantly evident with China and Russia. China was not properly industrialized until after Mao died, and it took Stalin several years, the blood and sweat of tens of millions of people and the intelligence of Western, Capitalist engineers and other intellectuals to modernize the Russian economy.

Without the UK India would have been much worse off, as their economy would have remained agrarian. Had India not been Socialist from independence till the early 90s they would have eclipsed China long ago.
India only had a small economy in 1947 because pretty much the whole empire was bankrupt from WWII, if independence was +/- 10 years it would have been a completely different story.

Well, since we have, as you say, at least another half-century, I think that may be just enough time to achieve success in the thankless task of teaching you ignorant colonials the finer points of the correct usage of the language of the Queen, Shakespeare and the Bible.

The US telling the UK to get the **** out was a blessing. No success would have been had being under the brutality of the US. By god, we had a right to country.

You may well have a right to country. I'll be damned, however, if I can see how that gives you the right to inflict Dolly Parton and Billy Ray Cyrus on us.
At its peak it covered just under a quarter of the worlds land mass and around 458 million people (around 20% of the total world population) lived in its territories.

The sun literally never set on the empire at its peak

It was pretty damn awesome :smug:

Im sorry this is AN AMERICAN TELLING US THIS, LOOK AT YOUR OWN COUNTRY, filled with racism against black people, the Mexican border patrol keeping immigrants out. People being allowed to carry potential murder weapons, thinking it for self defence like an attacker will be deterred by you having a gun in your pocket. And what you have done to the english language, you botched the English language so much i can barely recognize it, your need to uses "Z's" instead of "S's", the need to take the "U's" out of words and change other letter. And the fact that you elected George Bush, TWICE.Contrary to what all Americans seem to think, the internet is NOT an American invention, its British, that thing you're using right now, its ours. Lack of creativity? Our productivity has been proven to be far more superior then the States. We’re skinnier, and overall healthier than McDonalds guzzling Americans. They don’t give a crap about the rest of the world, yet when something happens to them, it’s an atrocious crime. Self righteous bastards, America is destroying itself FAR faster than we apparently are. You guys also claim to have saved our ass in two wars, before you even think this

WW1: You gave us almost no help, and only joined when the Germans sank many of their ships and tried to persuade the Mexicans to invade Texas

WW2: You refused to join, left us to deal with Hitler, and gave us no help. They SOLD us help, but that wrecked our economy after the war, which is why we’re no longer a superpower. Then they joined the war because Japan attacked THEM and Germany declared war on THEM

Cocky bastards thinking they won the war for us

All your base are belong to england
Why do people always say Britain should be ashamed of it's colonial past I never hear people saying the Italians should be ashamed of their Roman Empire etc... The World was a different place back then and Britain was more successful than anyone else at it lots of countries tried to create an empire it's just that they failed had Britain not been there then it would have just been another nation taking it's place and like someone else said we were the country to begin the abolishment of slavery long before the Americans did and gave up the empire voluntarily.

In total Britain controlled about 1/3 of the globe. Although geographically Britain's overseas empire was at its greatest in the 1930s after acquiring some of Germany's former colonies following the Treaty of Versailles, Britain was arguably already in decline by this point following the Boer War and WW1. In terms of actual power, Britain is commonly held to have reached its zenith around the time of Victoria's Diamond Jubilee at the end of the 19th century. If anything WW2 held the empire together for a few more years rather than hastened its decline.

You're all so proud of your destructive behavior. Longing for the past I see.

Thankfully, the US heavily backed by the French and Spanish and paid for by the Dutch told you to shove it.

I fixed that for you. Jamaica made more money for the Empire than all 13 colonies. Americans are a lot more patriotic than Brits and patriotism often leads to blindness to the failures of your own.
