Re: University of Manchester Firmers and Insurers 2012
Subject: PSYCHOLOGY
Offer: ABB
Why Manchester?: the city, it's the closest thing to London that's not London, the people, the uni has a good reputation that is rapidly improving, theyre the best uni that will accept my grades.
Accommodation you're thinking of selecting?: I applied for sheavyn, richmond and Weston hall although they are all quite oversubscribed so I don't know where I'm gonna end up.
What letters have people received? After my offer letter I haven't received anything else. I thought you were meant to get one after firming, or about accommodation? -
Re: University of Manchester Firmers and Insurers 2012hey thanks for all the information.. did you just apply online using the student number we received in our offer letter?(Original post by jennaz77)

Subject: Classical Studies
Offer: ABB
Why Manchester?: Been there a couple of times and just love the city! It has all the benefits of a big city but in a more compact way. It's inviting whereas somewhere like London you can feel lost and irrelevant.
Accomodation: I applied to Richmond, Sheavyn house and Lambert. I doubt i will get any of them though because they are high demand! i'm also slightly regretting putting in Lambert now because i really want to be on the Fallowfield Campus!

Re: University of Manchester Firmers and Insurers 2012En suite narrows it down quite a bit, but good location depends on what you want whether that be near your department or more amongst social stuff I found this thread was pretty useful:(Original post by godknows)

Re: University of Manchester Firmers and Insurers 2012
Hi there! I've just received my offers from Uni. Despite this, I don't know which choice I should pick. I've got an offer for Chemical Engineering with Industrial Experience (it would be AAA as I'm from Poland and have other qualifications) and Materials Science and Engineering with Industrial Experience (AAB). What would you choose? I would really like both these courses, but don't know which is better at Manchester Uni. Anybody has any advices?
-
Re: University of Manchester Firmers and Insurers 2012Chemical engineering is a far better course then materials science and engineering.. it is much more valued and recognised.. just do your research and take your decision carefully(Original post by banek)

Re: University of Manchester Firmers and Insurers 2012I have no clue about that.. sorry(Original post by banek)
I'm just doing 'my research' and as you said - more people recommend Chem Eng and also job prospects seem to be better
But I applied for Tuition Fee Loan with Mat Sc as my first choice. Though, I will be able to change it to Chem Eng, right?

Re: University of Manchester Firmers and Insurers 2012
I firmed Manchester, and I'm just starting to look at accommodation now, I'm hoping to do pharmacy so does anyone know the best accommodation around the Stopford building that's en-suite?
I'd say I would put it being en-suite above the location in terms of priority, so I wouldn't mind travelling if there's no en-suites that are close.
Thanks for your help -
Re: University of Manchester Firmers and Insurers 2012I was in exactly the same situation as you till today morning.. I applied for pharmacy too and was looking for a modern en suite accommadation near stopford building .. but anyways I ended up applied to(Original post by nffc-b)

Weston Hall
Lambert Hall
St. Gilbert's hall
They are not very close to stopford but are the best choices if you are looking for a modern ensuite accommodation.. good luck with your application

Re: University of Manchester Firmers and Insurers 2012They are all so ****.. Weston is old and has tiny rooms, Lambert Hall is literally 3 miles away from Stopford bldg and I don't know any hall named st. Gilbert.. There's st. Gabriel's but that hall is so boring.. You should have applied to Hulme Hall (Burkhart House), it's modern, ensuite and it's close to ur school.. Victoria is modern and ensuite too, but you don't get the social life you would have in Hulme Hall. Dalton-Ellis is pretty good too, and as Hulme, it has a modern block with ensuite rooms.(Original post by godknows)
