I guess in many ways this is something for the individual to work out themselves, but what do you think sets you aside from other leading law schools?

Re: What makes you stand out from other leading law schools?
Hi there,
There are many factors that make us stand out from other law schools: -
Our tutors are all practising lawyers/barristers or have been in the past, so they possess the academic knowledge as well as the practical experience in the field. There is a high amount of student-tutor contact time, with our small group sessions being held with a maximum of 18 students.
We have 27 firms who send their trainees to BPP exlusively, including Hogan Lovells, Jones Day and Norton Rose to name but a few. This is an indicator of BPP's excellent reputation amongst the UK's law schools.
BPP have an excellent Careers Service which students are entitled to use from the moment they accept a place with us. The Careers Service provide a large amount of advice and guidance on obtaining Training Contracts by run drop-in sessions, practice interviews and proof reading of application forms. They also host a wide range of networking events throughout the year that are open for current students to attend.
BPP's award-winning Pro Bono centre is another excellent feature of studying at BPP. Students on the GDL & LPC programmes are encouraged to participate in a wide range of pro-bono work, which will help improve their CV and give them work experience in the legal field.
I hope this gives you some idea studying at BPP can benefit you

Re: What makes you stand out from other leading law schools?Hi there,(Original post by Ethereal)
Isn't that the case with all LPC / BVC providers as it is a requirement that you are qualified in order to be able to teach on them.
Certain LPC providers are located within public universities and tutors at these universities, although may have been practicing solicitors and barristers in the past, are also engaged in their own academic pursuits.
This set up may be applicable to certain students, but we at BPP pride ourselves on providing tutors who are there to aid students by imparting their legal knowledge, and further more, their insights into the professional legal world onto our students.
Choosing an LPC provider is very much an individual choice. However, we believe that any student who is trained at BPP Law School by the end of their studies will possess the academic knowledge and professional legal insight to make a real difference from day one of their legal career.
This is evidence by having 27 exclusive firms for the LPC, with some of these including magic firms such as Hogan Lovells, Norton Rose and Freshfields.
Many thanks,
Forhad

Re: What makes you stand out from other leading law schools? But your original answer said "or have been in the past". The fact is that is correct for all LPC/BVC tutors at all providers so how does that set you apart from other leading providers?(Original post by BPP University College)

Re: What makes you stand out from other leading law schools? As is the case with university law faculties where there are lecturers and academics who have never practiced as a legal professional, some of the university-based postgraduate law schools have tutors and lecturers who are academic lawyers and not practitioners.(Original post by Ethereal)

You will also find that some of the elective tutors at some of the providers have not actually had experience in the area in which they teach (can be referenced in the BSB BPTC provider visit reports). This is not the case with BPP Law School.
Kind regards,
The BPP Team -
Re: What makes you stand out from other leading law schools?I would beg to differ regarding prestige; this certainly isn't the case in the amongst Magic Circle firms, and with the BPTC specifically BPP Law School has an excellent reputation that is on par with City Law School (formerly ICSL) and Kaplan.(Original post by AP1989)
The College of Law pre-dates BPP and is therefore more established and prestigious. The BPP brand is like a Tesco store of professional qualifications.
How would you respond to this?
The proportion of high-quality applicants choosing BPP Law School as their first-choice in LPC and BPTC applications is a testament to our reputation amongst law graduates, and our reputation at the bar and amongst Magic Circle firms speaks for itself.
Kind regards,
The BPP Team -
Re: What makes you stand out from other leading law schools?
Just to follow up on Ethereal's question, our professional education ethic is what sets us apart. Our approach to the LLB, LPC and BPTC reflect our focus on preparing lawyers for practice; this approach is valued highly by the firms for whom we are the exclusive provider of vocational training for their trainees.
Just as we provide high-quality professional education to large numbers of accountants, financial advisers, investment analysts and traders in the financial sector, and exclusively for many of the top financial institutions, we have sought to do the same in legal education, and our reputation and the demand for places on our courses reflect our success in that regard.
Kind regards,
The BPP Team
