I dont think they are. They are just people living life as they are used to, like me. I just cannot see how most women can be happy with the way they are forced to live. I dont think China is western I was using it as an example of much worse human rights than the west. IMO we are the most humane society on the planet.

when you say us do you mean britain or western europe in general?
its really not that bad, whilst i readily admoit some of their laws such as this one are heinously sarchaic the country it self is incredibly liberal. i was only there last year and aside from the obvious differences such as dress, language etc. it was no different from europe the women were free to walk about the streets and shop as they pleased i didnt see any head dresses let alone those ghastly niqabs etc. but i do see your point of course there are elements to the moroccan state that are very backward by western standards but in general it is by far one of the most westernised islamic nations around and a genuinly lovely place to visit

I don't know if it says anything about it in the Koran or any other Islamic religious texts but it's certainly the status quo in many if not most Islamic countries.

When I say the west, I mean like the liberal societies like western europe and the US. Its strange if it is so liberal they still have very medieval, supposedly 'islamic' laws in place. Are these laws actually even islamic? I thought it was supposed to protect women at all costs
