Guys the club have confirmed that Kalou and Bosingwa have been released. I'm personally surprised/ disappointed as both players were heroes throughout our Champions League campaign.

Also Lucas is better than Kaka was at that age based on reports from Brazil, so 30m isn't necessarily over the odds.
I'm happy about Bosingwa and Kalou being released. I never really rated Bosingwa to be honest. Kalou was good in the 08/10 era but I think he's deteriorating now, most of the time when he gets the ball in games he just panics

Bosingwa was a defensive tank in the Nou Camp though, and has played well at CB as well this season. Considering it costs relatively little to keep both players on, surely it's a mistake to let them go for free?

I feel like he got his **** together during the second half at Nou Camp but was awful to begin with, I'm pretty sure he was responsible for one of the goals.

They could have tried selling them but I don't think they'd have sold for much anyway

Good points. Who do we replace them with then? High profile players, or youth team?

I'll be honest I have no clue especially in terms of defenders. It depends if they are now gonna try this "beautiful game" Abramovich has wanted for a long time. In terms of forwards though i'm all for Hulk, with Drogba gone we need someone with that power.

They haven't been officially released yet, all rumours.

Gourlay has also said we may have TWO strikers scoring 25-30 goals next season. Falcao anyone??

It's what Gourlay said. I think with Kalou he might be offered new terms if the next manager wants him. Falcao would be welcome for me. Not sure about Hulk though

Releasing Kalou and Bosingwa is stupid to me, both good squad players. I don't rate them enough to play first team but they give depth which is needed when challenging for multiple cups.

I would release Malouda as well though if we are having a clear out.

Does Bosingwa leaving mean you guys will be in the market for a new back-up RB, or do you have youngsters coming up in that area? I don't suppose Kalou being released will have too much of an impact now that you guys are getting Marin and Bertrand has shown that he can put in a shift there as well.

Likewise. Bosingwa did pretty well in his debut season in English football, but deteriorated after that. Kalou had a lot of potential when we first bought him, but has never risen above the rank of mediocre squad player. I'd rather replace them with some cheap, solid young players, or, in the case of Kalou, Marin.

Definitely not 'high-profile' players...but this season has shown the value of having good solid back-up. As such, something in between, I suppose.

    Back up right back.
We need wingers, because malouda is complaining and wants to leave, I don't want to rely on using a back up left back as a winger tbh. bertrand was useful for parking the bus, he was just being a defensive winger, but we have too many of those already. We need one more winger and another RB.

I don't want to risk using hutchinson every game, We should get the young fast RB who's good atttacking wise that'll eventually replace ivanovic e.g. cezar azpilcueta.

I concur. Malouda is 31 anyway and is unlikely to get back to the form he was in 09-10. Bosingwa might be 29, but it's not too much of a problem, he can be a good squad player and at times be a quality right back e.g. first few games of the season.

I'll miss having someone as useless but useful as kalou in my team. Would love to see kalou stay in the prem. Anyway it looks like we're going to do what we could and should have done last season. Why does he have a spider on his head?

They're both nice guys and obviously get on well with the rest of the squad, but realistically we're better off replacing them.

Will miss Kalou's bundled goals :coma:

    Send Malouda to PSG please.

If Roman wants aesthetically pleasing football why doesn't he target Louis van Gaal as manager? Banking on Guardiola may be premature and if he were to manage us he'd may be better off coming at a later time. Plus, he never rebuilt Barcelona, as such, so why rebuild at Chelsea?

You never know, they say there's a couple of candidates in the mix along with RDM. Statement should be released in the next week or so.

I don't think our style needs to be changed though. It's not like we play the same way against all other teams as we did against Bayern and Barca. But it seems like with the players we're targeting (Hazard, Lucas, Hulk), we're looking to play similar to Ancelotti's first season where we were easily tearing teams apart in an attractive and ruthless fashion. And in the process forking out another £100m that will end up being criticised :sigh:

We should get robinho to replace him
Yeah I'm guessing with these big signings our plan is to basically rape every other team like we did under ancelotti in the first season.

I see us title challenging next season, but who do you think will win the league next season?

Sad to see them go obviously but right for them.

Bosingwa had a good CL Final but this season still he has been poor defensively but decent going forward.

Kalou been around a long time but never scored THAT many goals.

What makes you think we will be title challenging, we were no where near this season!
