Re: The Chelsea F.C. Thread IIILucas (Moura) is off to Madrid I think but yeah, they have a young and exciting team.(Original post by Frankster)
Marin - Hazard - Mata - Torres - Lucas? - Hulk - Kevin De Bryne - Sturridge - Piazon - Weil
Holy **** what a young Killer team =) -
Re: The Chelsea F.C. Thread IIIThe top tax rate in England is still 50%, for those who earn more than 150,000 per annum. Chelsea's highest paid player is Torres, though Terry and Lampard are close behind.(Original post by jam277)
How much is the tax in england? Is it 50% or 40%.
I don't think anyone in chelsea is on over 200k though tbf . Most are around the 60-150k range(from what I remember in FM lol). Who's chelsea's highest paid payer anyway? -
Re: The Chelsea F.C. Thread IIIWell simple income tax alone puts 200k a week to 115k per week after tax. Probably be a few other small things that go into that too(Original post by jam277)

Lucas (Moura) is off to Madrid I think but yeah, they have a young and exciting team.
We ought to win next year's Champions League too, albeit our defence needs some tweaking - we can't have a position like against Munich when some of our best defenders were missing, yet managed to eek out a win.

Re: The Chelsea F.C. Thread III
Hi y'all. What's going on with Hulk? I hear Ramires wants him to come but do you reckon Porto will eventually allow Hulk to go this summer? Or do you reckon Hulk is staying at Porto this summer?
Also, this may seem controversial but I'm slightly concerned about your double pivot. Obviously Lampard is quality (although he probably won't be as great as he used to be due to his age) but apart from him, I don't think anyone else is creative enough or Xavi-like to do well in the double pivot.
Why am I mentioning the double pivot? Because it is the link between your defence and attack. It's all good having Torres, Hazard, Marin, Mata and (possibly) Hulk as attacking options but what use are they if they're not getting the right service and support from the double pivot? The central midfielders in the pivot need to disciplined defensively but most importantly, be able to keep possession of the ball, release the ball quickly to the attacking players for a counter attack and use the ball intelligently as much as possible. Even though it would be nice to have two creative midfielders like this in the double pivot, having one is enough while the other central midfielder can just be a "destroyer".
Lampard fits the creative role well enough. De Bruyne has the ability to fulfil this role but I hear he may be loaned out again. And even if he stays, he probably won't get enough game time. So who is left? Ramires.
Although Ramires was one of your best players last season, I'm not sure whether he will fulfil the creative role well enough. A lot of the times I've watched him, his ball control has been average (and poor at times), he lacks the composure in the centre to just retain the ball and pick out a good pass so instead he just runs forward clumsily and clatters into the opposition's players. He also lacks the skill to make space for himself, when surrounded by opponents, after receiving a pass to avoid getting closed down easily. Also he has had a habit of giving the ball away to the opposing team thus conceding possession. However, he makes up for this with his defensive work, goals and bursts from midfield that don't result in clumsily clattering with players but rather result in creating chances.
I don't feel confident that Ramires can perform the creative/composed role well enough next season in a double pivot. He has the potential to do well in a pivot but I'm not confident about whether he'll adapt well enough and soon enough. I hope I'm wrong though because I want Chelsea to do well again next season.
So what I'm trying to bring across here is that is it worth it for Chelsea to bring in another central midfielder who has better creative skills than the likes of Essien and Mikel? And remember that if Ramires and Lampard injured at any point next season, will you have good cover for them?Last edited by Cable; 07-06-2012 at 22:38. -
Re: The Chelsea F.C. Thread IIIHeh. I'll just ignore the anti-football brigade chums and stay here. I was going to hang around in the armed forces section anyway since I'm applying to the RAF since the army role I'm after is seemingly too exclusive.
I should just ignore the numpties tbh. I've noticed, in general, petulance increases during the summer from my years on TSR and elsewhere. No idea if it's the weather or people have lost their life savings on daft accumulators on betting sites.(Original post by L18)
shame to see you get off again so soon lad.
On a unrelated note..
Surely if RDM was getting the job he'd of been given it by now?
I'm not a fan of the international game and so all there is to comment about are transfer rumours and the Battersea bid. Transfers I don't care for since most of them are made up. No idea on RDM though. May be he might want to leave on a high? I'd like him to stay. And I don't want Guardiola either. There's no way he'd be able to replicate what he did at Barca at Chelsea, or any other English side for that matter IMO. Wouldn't mind Capello but his fluency in English is a bit rubbish, even though he provided a tactical masterclass in the first CL final I ever saw.
I'll hang around then. It is a bit amusing being lectured on how the game ought to be played from people who have never seen their clubs, or take a swipe at the ownership models at Chelsea and City while being totally blinkered to the economics of football elsewhere. And then there's some numpty who tried talking morals who doesn't know what the term subjective is. I mean, ugh.

Re: The Chelsea F.C. Thread IIIThanks, oh yeah I've been playing quite a bit of COD. Playing search and destroy has been so funny listening to 13 year old kids who've barely broken their voice complain about other kids.(Original post by NDGAARONDI)

I also agree with you with the manager too. Forget guardiola, I would like capello, we should keep di matteo, but since abramovich wants him to play another more attacking style of football(like we did vs blackburn or vs liverpool in the FA cup final in the first half), we could keep him, he was being pretty pragmatic and playing safe football with the players we had. We could have taken bayern on and attacked them, but that was pretty risky seeing as most of our key defensive players were out. -
Re: The Chelsea F.C. Thread IIIIt's the adults I used to have to end up muting more rather than the underaged gamers. The only issue I had with the underaged ones is that they'd get interference from their headsets/mics quite a bit but that might be because they're new to using them. I use SitRep Pro so it's to my benefit I mute everyone unless they're in my party but even then they have to be on my friends' list because of the Xbox settings. Haven't played S&D for ages. The bomb looks like a laptop from what I remember.(Original post by jam277)

Louis van Gaal? He's an advocate of the attacking style Roman supposedly wants, is fluent in English, and is a disciplinarian and probably quite astute tactically.(Original post by jam277)

Re: The Chelsea F.C. Thread III
Everyone on twitter saying he's been given a 1 year contract. Shouldn't be long until it's officially confirmed.
OK, finally on BBC nowLast edited by Isometrix; 10-06-2012 at 22:43. -
Re: The Chelsea F.C. Thread IIII'm really looking forward to next season, now. However, I still can't see us getting Guardiola. He just seems incompatible with Chelsea's ethos.(Original post by TheInvincibles14)
It's pretty obvious that if it's a 1 year contract Guardiola will be your next manager after him. Exciting times to be a Chelsea fan. -
Re: The Chelsea F.C. Thread IIINot if he wins another CL.(Original post by Zerforax)
He'll get replaced next summer, maybe sooner if he has a poor start to the season.
How many managers will that make it if he's replaced next summer?
In all seriousness, that's eight in nine years. Calling it a bit silly is an understatement. -
Re: The Chelsea F.C. Thread IIINo idea, but they are clearly reluctant to offer him the long-term contract he wants. As far as I know, he won't accept a one-year extension, but he said today that he wouldn't consider resigning.(Original post by Banishingboredom)
Does anyone have any clue what Spurs are up to with Redknapp? -
Re: The Chelsea F.C. Thread III
He probably wants 2-5 years whereas Spurs will consider:
a) His age (he's 65 now)
b) His health
c) His eagerness to job ship for the England job
d) The team's performance after being linked to the job
e) The failure to qualify for CL, despite having such a lead and being touted as title challengers mid-season
f) His insane wages he wants no doubt
