    Dropping a subject
I do Chemistry, Human Biology, Psychology and English Lit at AS level.I hate english lit !!! i regrett taking it sooo badly. its not just that i hate it though, its the fact that im worried that is wasting time that could be spent revising for the subjects i actuly need for university. my main problem is that my essay writing skills are terrible and i hate writing about things that dont interest me in the slightest.

Do you think universities will think less of me if i drop english? i want to study biochemistry at either sussex or nottingham. My head of sixform said they will think less of me.Though i think she might just be saying that to get me not to drop a course.

    Thanks in advance

Is this at AS level? I am guessing so
I don't think it will matter if you drop it
I have a few friends who took 3AS levels and they've all got their
first choices - one even applied for Law and got in no problem
And you could always pick up another AS (one that you like more)
    next year
    Hope that helps x

Hey I'm actually in the same position sort of..I do biology, chemistry, maths and English lit and I want to do medicine.. I'm dropping lit next year and doing a physics AS and I was talking to a cambridge admissions lady at a ucas conference and she told me they wwould ignore my lit at A2 and were looking for sciences so that put my mind at rest.. I would drop it for me its poetry that's the killer I just don't have the patience to care about assonance and metaphors!! :P

I would take it until the summer, after then, dropping it shouldn't be a big issue for uni, however you will of course have less UCAS points, but the A2 grades are what they really look for!

I haven't heard of them asking anything like that other than at interview
and you could just say that you thought maths would be more helpful
Also most Unis just look at your three A2 predictions rather than your AS'
I think you'll be fine but its up to you

I dont think you should drop it, maybe it will get easier, plus what if your head of sixth form is right.. Plus if you really want to try and achieve it, and you put in the effort then you'll be able to pass, I should know, I got the same advice earlier :h:
