Re: loughborough illustration portfolio review/interview.i think i'l probably take my car only when moving in and stuffs, but keeping a car at uni will have to depend on the cost etc, soo in need of a job of this summer! i just know that i will be stuck with someone in a flat whom will be an ultimate troll and keep the place messy! 3264 isnt bad, but i wanted to have the eggy place price of 2.4k or something D:(Original post by Village Whisper)
It's okay, I had a feeling you might be
Will you take your car to uni then, if you get one? I hope someone in my flat has a cleaning fetish, so I won't feel compelled to do it! I think maybe a cleaning fetish is one of the most productive/useful ones to have, so it's not a bad thing
Ummm, I'm not sure. I think on the booking page or whatever it is, it'll show up as being "On Tour" since that's what it's listed as on the price page thing. The cost I guess is for living in the physical Village Court building, rather than "the egg place"
It's £3264.30, anyway.
FMP's doing alright, I've started my painting for my final piece but the actual final thing is going to have extra stuff around it. I'm thinking of making a mini room/cubicle type thing with book page wallpaper and photo frames on the walls, with the painting on the wall in front. I want it to be kinda like a walk-in book, but not necessarily like a physical book...Kind of like it's like you're reading a book when you step into the space and look around, if you get what I mean. It's quite confusing at the moment. How's yours going?
And yep, I'm going
for my fmp im still doing bits of sketch book stuffs, i bought my canvas the other day but will have to get back into painting for it, i havent painted since like boxing day or something lmao (the squishy self portrait i did in oils on flikr) so i am going to predict an man period! (when i goes moody cause i gets pissed off from not being able to mis the correct tones and values and mess the painting up!) soo on the canvas i will be painting a figure or something, a movie poster style kinda, canvas is 40 by 30, so kinda big!
oh that idea seems kinda wierd yet interesting! are you aiming to make it an 3d physical thing with a 2d painting, or will it all be painted? what size are you thinking of doing it?
-
Re: loughborough illustration portfolio review/interview.Yeah, I need a job too. I kind of want to go on holiday though, which would be 2 weeks and I don't know whether anywhere would be too happy about that considering I'd only be there for a short amount of time. Oh well. And the prices of all the places have gone up this year, so I doubt it would've been that cheap anyway. Not loads more, but I guess there's not much anyone can do about it.(Original post by scampiandchipsrock)

I still have loads of sketchbook work to do, too. That's ages to have not painted! My canvas is about A1 size, is that smaller than yours (can't be bothered to measure it
)? And yeah, if I did do that it'd be literally like 3 walls/boards/partitions with the 2D painting. You know, like those boards you stick up for exhibitions, so they'd be quite tallish. I don't know whether I'll be able to though, I'd have to convince them to let me have the space. I never ask for anything from them though, so I'm hoping they'll say yes.

Re: loughborough illustration portfolio review/interview.i would love to have my job back at asda </3 or you could just do a little trip around the uk rather than out the country that would be kinda cheaper? or i'd assume so(Original post by Village Whisper)

yeahhh i think a1's smaller than mine, but the thing is i went canvas shopping without any plan. so im gonna have to sort out the composition and what stuff im going to put inot the poster stlye thingy in painting with the size i have got now
ohh you mean like those those ones that they stand but are liek folded in a zig zag formation?
im really excited to go to loughborough on wednesday! but not looking forward to buy the train tickets toamrrow D:

Re: loughborough illustration portfolio review/interview.I've never had a proper job really, I just had a week-long Halloween event job last October. Did you quit at Asda? And I'm sure it would be cheaper, but I wouldn't be paying for it(Original post by scampiandchipsrock)

If I go I'll be going with my parents and sister, so we get to go to nice all-inclusive hotels in hot countries.
Ah, I hate planning work to fit a specific size, it never works out for me
Luckily I'd decided what I was doing just before I got the canvas. Do you have an idea of how it's gonna look? You have to show me when it's finished!
And haha, no, but I know the ones you mean. I think they're non-bendy and wooden, but I'm not sure. They're making us all go in to paint them white before anyone puts their work up, anyway. I hope they'll let me stick paper all over mine and paint directly onto them, otherwise I'm going to have to come up with another idea.
I'm scared about Wednesday! I do want to find out more about the course though. I'm sure it'll be fine when I get there, I just tend to worry a lot
Hopefully we'll have the chance to have a quick look at some of the accommodation as well. I'm now thinking William Morris ensuite first, then the standard room and Harry French after. If none of them are available, then Village Court. I'd like to see them first if I can, though, even if it's just from the outside.

Re: loughborough illustration portfolio review/interview.where was this halloween job? nooo i was forced to quit asda cause i had like 6am shift starts and a few night shifts but then i started my foundation course D: ohh that'd be nice! any thought on what country you'd liek to go to?(Original post by Village Whisper)

Re: loughborough illustration portfolio review/interview.It was at a farm. They have this Halloween half term event week for children, with two haunted house-type walks, bouncy castles, a pumpkin carving barn and stuff like go-karts. I was mostly in the pumpkin carving bit, but I had to do some bouncy castle-supervising too which was a bit scary! Bearing in mind there were hundreds and hundreds of children there. Still, it was fun(Original post by scampiandchipsrock)

Did you have a gap year or something before foundation, or was the job over summer? And I'm not sure, as long as it's hot I don't mind
I do like Arabic-speaking countries (well, I've only been to Egypt and Morocco, but still), though the guys there can be a bit pervy!
Oh, you tease
I hope it does go according to plan though, 'cause my painting's being a bit annoying at the moment. You get your own wall at the moment? That's hardly fair, I get a tiny table! Why those two? Kristen Stewart is miserable-looking, and Scarlett Johansson's not that interesting
My mum's gonna drive me 'cause I don't like motorways, but yeah I'll be on my own
I don't know anyone else who's going there. On one of the older threads from a couple of years ago, it sounds like there's loads of summer work! For fine art, anyway, unless they've changed it...
-
Re: loughborough illustration portfolio review/interview.
Oh, I forgot about the other bit. But woooooah you did a lot of sketches! I'd never have the patience to do all that, and I can't draw that quickly. You were never bad, by the way, but you can totally see the difference between your old work and newer stuff. You should update it

And I like your friend's work, too, but I wouldn't say he was better than you from what he's posted (not worse either, though). You're both good
Unless he's become super-amazing since those last photos

anyhow it sounds alot more fun than what i did, stacking, pies, cheese and racking milk cages -__- ohh it was a job over a the summer, i havent taken a gap year, i know it says that im 20 on my profile on here but im really 19, and i dont know how to change it
ohh how was egypt and morroco, ive only been to bombay and berlin -___- ahah pervy guys
im really scared to start my painting in case i effs it up
we get allocated rooms, like theres a room for vis com, then fashion, fine art etc, then we can pick wherever you want, which basically means the walls, floor and tables, everything that within your space, which is like 6ft by 6ft cube, if you get what im trying to say
i dont know we usually get bored and start cutting out pictures of girls and other silly stuffs that would motivate us and stick it on the wall
ohh no wonder you scared! i could annoy you, but they'l probably most likely split into subject groups
well just pray there wont be alot of summer work
and yeah i used to sketch a lot, now im lazy! i will get myself into shape over the summer and so then i can make more people jealous next year
but yeah my friend is slightly better then me ¬.¬ you going to join any sport societies at lufbra?
-
Re: loughborough illustration portfolio review/interview.Haha, well, I say "farm". It's technically a farm, but the bit I was working in was the area where they have the farm shop and cafe, so it wasn't the field-y bit. They do have some animals around there, though. At least you had a job for longer than a week(Original post by scampiandchipsrock)

Ooooh, I see! You're the same age as me then
Erm, I went to Morocco at the end of year 11 which was good, and then it was Cuba the next year, and Egypt was last year but I'd also been when I was 9. It was really good, but a lot of the Egyptian guys really did seem to like tall skinny white girls, which was a bit awkward on the beach
Were Bombay and Berlin nice? I haven't been to either, but they look really good.
Just start it! It's better to have something less-than-perfect that you can fix than a blank canvas
Oh yeah, I get what you mean. Are you at actual Coventry uni? Mine's just a regional college, which is maybe why we get practically no space. There are better girls than those two! I've had a mini obsession with Rose Byrne since I watched Insidious...She's sooo pretty.
You can "annoy" me if they don't
They said something about a reading list, too. I love reading, but not art books really. Why do you think he's better? Aaand, I'm not sure. I don't suppose you saw my pole dancing thread that caused such a fuss over on the fitness board, did you?
I'm thinking I might join that society, but I'll probably be bad. Maybe yoga too, but I'd rather do pilates if they had a society for that. I saw somewhere that they do cheap timetabled lessons for things like that, though, where you don't have to join so I might do that instead. Did you have any in mind?

i will start it, im just an extrememly heavy procrastinator
yeah im in the actual cov uni

i havent watched insidious cause im too scared to watch it on my own
i have an obsession with hayden pannettiere and orlando bloom and vin diesel <3
i would annoy come and annoy you, but i dont knwo what you look like so it'l be tricky spotting you

Re: loughborough illustration portfolio review/interview.Well, there are loooads of fields and farms around here. Oh, I'll be 20 in January. It's scary, it seems so old(Original post by scampiandchipsrock)

Yep, I love travelling. We went to Israel for a day when we were in Egypt, which was pretty interesting...But a tourist bus got blown up a couple of hours after our bus went past the same place, which was a bit scary
And Egyptian men don't look like pharoahs
Most of them wear normal clothes, but there are a few who wear these things http://www.youregypt.com/issue7/images/topic.jpg I'd like to go to Berlin at uni or something and look at the art places, everyone who went on my course said it was really good but they got pretty drunk too
When's your foundation show? Mine's in about a month, but apparently some people have had theirs already. Haha, I've never seen Star Wars. I watched the newest Star Trek film 'cause my dad made me, but I actually liked it. The next one's not out til next year though
I'll watch Insidious with you!
It was pretty scary I thought, but I'd watch it again (not on my own though!). There's this horrible red demon thing, only I'm still not sure what he looked like because I looked away every time
Orlando Bloom's sooo fit, especially as Legolas and Will Turner
Most art books in libraries are traditional-type things, which are a bit...Meh. I like the Illustration Now type books. I mostly look at http://www.juxtapoz.com/ though. Pilates is like yoga, but more about the fitness and exercise than the lifestyle. I've never really done it though, it's quite hard and it's a bit hard to get motivated doing it on your own
Ooh I know what you mean, I was reading a book series over Easter where the main character is really good at karate and I was like "I wanna do that!". I wish I'd started when I was younger, though. You need to waaaatch it.

i prefer orlando as legolas <3
but i love traditional art books
oh i occasionaly checkout that website, i normall buy these magazine called imaginefx, and check that conceptart.org, and cghub.com out. pilates sounds hard and time consuming
it never too late to start
i shally watch it after my silly project is over, still got loads to watch, even still the last harry potter D:

I knooow, it was a bit. Worrying thing is, though, that when we were in Turkey when I was in year 9 a bin in the town centre also blew up about an hour after we were there. I think there's a bit of bad luck (or good luck, maybe) going on
Ooh, I really want to go to America again! I only went to Disney. I hope they do have a trip like that. Or Paris, I loved it there but that was a school trip so it was a bit...school-y. My interview guy was talking about America too, and telling me I should go to the deep south 'cause I was reading To Kill a Mockingbird. I've always wanted to anyway, they have good accents
I don't even know how I got an offer to be honest, my interview was basically a conversation about America, magazines and why I don't like fox hunting...
Two weeks is nothing! I checked, I have 3 weeks til I have to get the rooms ready and put my work up, and the show's a week later...Bit worrying. I'll watch Star Wars
Is that the one with the big gorilla/bear-type fluffy thing? I love Legolas's hair, it's so nice. I do love a bit of Aragorn too, though
Haha, you evidently do a lot more art-related reading than me. It is time consuming, but considering the rubbish I eat I think I should probably make more effort
You have to watch Harry Potter!

Re: loughborough illustration portfolio review/interview.YEAH I GUESS YOUR RIGHT! CONSIDERING I'L IF I PASS MY FOUDNATION COURSE AHA(Original post by Village Whisper)
Yeah you have, you've got a place at a good uni? And I'm sure there's lots of other stuff too
I knooow, it was a bit.

Of course you'll pass. And why are the explosions making you jealous?! Or the places? I have loads more countries I could list, but I won't
You wiiiiill go travelling more
I really want to do a road trip around America in one of those old cars like this https://www.theimagefile.com/v/tp/10...onvertible.jpg and go everywhere. Disney was good! I was only 7, though
My dad got me into a load of rides meant for older children though, 'cause I was tall enough. There was an Alien one, where you get strapped into a seat and it goes dark and the alien comes out of a tubey thing in the middle...There was this air/water/something sprayed at people's faces when it came out, only I didn't know why everyone was screaming because it went straight over the top of my head
Was pretty goood. And you obviously did better at your interview than you thought you did!
I'd hardly say aaages. I just wish I knew what I was doing around my painting. Hahaha, I'm sure your impression is just lovely
I'm still scared about tomorrow
Especially now that I'm confused as to where we have to go. My email says the design school, but that's a completely different place with completely different subjects? I don't know whether it's a mistake or whether it's actually supposed to be there. Where does yours say? I'd email them, but it's a bit late now and I don't like calling people

Re: loughborough illustration portfolio review/interview.I did that yesterday! I figured out though, if you click "Restore Auto-Saved Content" in the left hand corner of the Quick Reply box it brings the majority of it back.(Original post by scampiandchipsrock)

Haha, oh, I guess I have been to a fair few places
On the road trip I'd also like to stay in those motel things where they're like in a U shape around a car park by the side of the road, 'cause they seem pretty American and cheap
Where would you go, like around Wales/Scotland as well or just England? I hate heights too! So scaaary.
Well, if you haven't worked it out already, I worry about eeeeverything...Worrying can then turn into being scared, which is what's happening at the moment
Yeah I guess they must split into courses at some point, maybe they'll do a joint introduction or something? That is if they don't have completely different tutors/whatever for each course. Oooh, I don't know, I need to stop thinking about it.
At least you're starting, even if your house does smell funny
My sister was using bleach on ink this afternoon, so the kitchen smells strangely like a swimming pool which is a bit nasty.
I'll look out for you
I don't know what I'm wearing yet (panic!), but I'll be tall and have blue nails if that helps
