Re: World heading towards post-antibiotic eraWell done, you can write down something you've either read or been told. Impressive.(Original post by VeniViciVidi)
"New World Order" is perhaps the most misrepresented term in international relation. It's come to signify some kind of conspiratorial, shady secret government, attempting to rule the world with a hidden fist. It's nothing more than an idiotic misrepresentation, an absurd notion based on the ignorance and laziness of people who should know better. "New world order" is a political term, used to define any period in time which sees a dramatic transition in international or national affairs, or a dramatic change in the balance of power. "New" as in something revolutionary, "world order" as in the order of relations between states. Basically, the entire NWO conspiracy theory came about because someone caught grasp of a term used by a number of political figures, and couldn't be bothered to look it up in a dictionary. The rise of Fascism across Europe was a "new world order". The collapse of the Soviet Union was a "new world order". The rise of irregular warfare in a multipolar world, and modern interpretations of Wahhabism and Salafism are "new world orders". -

Re: World heading towards post-antibiotic eraWords are not defined by pieces of paper; they are defined by those who use them. Therefore, the term is perfectly applicable. Words, phrases and terms can have more than one definition, so I fail to see what is wrong with the term 'New World Order'. Are you telling me the idea of an all-powerful group is implausible?(Original post by VeniViciVidi)
Care to prove otherwise? -

Re: World heading towards post-antibiotic eraSo you think that.(Original post by Infallible)
Yet people still deny the existence of groups trying to bring about a New World Order. It isn't a coincidence that animals are pumped with antibiotics. What better way to make people immune?
1.) Somebody. Who? Has decided to create a situation where there is antibiotic resistance (what possible purpose would this serve?)
2.) This persons has enlisted millions of people and there plan for world domination involves squirting antibiotics at cows in Brazil
3.) Nobody has ever found out this dastardly plan -
Re: World heading towards post-antibiotic eraYou're extremely naïve then.(Original post by VeniViciVidi)
Yes. Next question? -
Re: World heading towards post-antibiotic eraI wouldn't say I am considering that the New World Order rhetoric is spouted with by people with little to no international relations experience whilst the commentators who are 'experts' in the sector believe it is a joke, a false and ludicrous term. You have failed to produce a single-shred of evidence to typify this new world order.(Original post by Infallible)

Re: World heading towards post-antibiotic eraWhilst you say they're pumping animals with antibiotics this may be true for some countries, but in the UK use of antibiotics is guarded in animals and even then meat has withdrawal periods so that no trace of antibiotic residues are found in the animal upon slaughter.

Re: World heading towards post-antibiotic eraThey are not antibiotics.(Original post by Martyn*)
“Things as common as strep throat or a child’s scratched knee could once again kill."
I don't know about strep throat, but you can apply natural antibiotics (lemon, limes, even garlic) to a child's scratched knee.
Antiseptic is what you possibly mean. -
Re: World heading towards post-antibiotic eraWhat I meant was that antibiotics are used to clear-up and prevent infection. The body has its own natural defence. So, what is wrong with using nature's best 'anti-biotic'? If my child had a scratched knee, I would not rush to give them anti-biotics. I would let nature do the work. There are many wonderful things in nature; many of us don't realise that they are there.

Re: World heading towards post-antibiotic eraVery few people would rush to giving antibiotics for a scratch.(Original post by Martyn*)
