    thanks!!

I just thought of another possible question :

Describe how a programme of aerobic training can reduce the body fat and have an improvement on transportation of oxygen to the muscles?
release energy over a longer period of time
    use oxygen
    plenty of mitochondria
    increased metabolism so reduce fats
training generally reduces cholesterol levels and increases HDL's ratio to LDL's so more fat being transported to liver

Am I on the right track?

    LOL (:
    Look at the following websites:

    http://www.healthiertalk.com/methyla...planation-0101
    http://www.news-medical.net/health/D...thylation.aspx

    I hope they helped.
But I don't think they'll ask in details.

    Sooo.

As i promised, here are some of the questions I came up with..i'll post more at night

discuss the effect of media, body image and dieting on your body.
describe the effect/function/structure of BAT on body weight.
    where is BAT stored?
describe the effect( advantages & disadvantages) of blockbuster weight pills on your health e g side effects.
what are anti-obesity therapies? advantages & disadvantages of using them.

describe the effect of obesity on body health.
what is the difference between obese and obesity.
what are the treatments provided by the NHS to treat obesity.
    ways to reduce obesity.
how has obesity increased over the years.
    describe ways to measure obesity.

why is obesity considered " detrimental to health"
describe the effect/function/structure/place where WAT is stored.
what are triglycerides? structure/effect/function/place in the body it is found.
why is apple body shape considered more dangerous than fat stored around the hips and thighs.
    symptoms of type 2 diabetes/heart disease/cancer
great qs! could u pleas send me the mark scheme? cheers in advance

can someone please explain to me this paragraph..
I just dont seem to uderstand it

Females today are exposed to evolutionarily novel stimuli that deceive cognitive and neurological processes whose function developed to evaluate other females. As some females use a typical media physique to establish norms as points of comparison it has for many become a case of ‘keeping up with the Boneses’.

    thanks

Anyone got an answer to "Why is the waist-hip ratio (rather than the waist or hip measurement alone) used as an indicator in the studies on sexual selection?" I feel like it's another one of those questions where I'll ramble on about some scientific reason - though in the back of my mind the answer is simply 'taking two factors into account increases the reliability of any results' (or something on those lines). Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Iii... can someone please explain to me the difference between cognitive and neurological processes? Paragraph 27

And what does it mean by " keeping up with the boneses" paragraph 27

Can someone please explain to me what are" evolutionary novel stimuli"?? What causes them? Paragraph 27

Please someone help me out here. Thanks.

    Hey,

You need to know the actual experiment (if you need me to write it up, I'll do that tomorrow around 1-2PM as i'll be out in the morning
We need to know how to use the respirometer to measure the volume of oxygen taken up
I'm 90% sure we don't have to draw the apparatus but you know what....I'm gonna memorise that diagram this week lol cheers!

    Hey guys!

In the article it says that BAT is able to regulate core body temperature (end of paragraph 29). So if the temperature falls of the environment, how does BAT raise core body temperature? Does it do this by allowing chemiosmosis to occur and ATP to be produced?

What it does it is enable the glucose to be respired, but the uncoupling protein prevents ATP from being formed therefore making the energy become lost as heat. It does this by enabling H+ ions to diffuse back into the inner mitochondrial membrane rather than necessarily having to diffuse back via an ATP synthase protein on the membrane.

do you have to know that:eek::eek:

Also what part of unit 1 and 2 do you think we should be revising for the unit5 article?

Ah yeah that makes sense... lol
But what if temperature rises? Will chemiosmosis occur as normal?

No to be honest it's background and they wouldn't expect you to know it. HOWEVER they could use that example in an apply your knowledge scenario about the uncoupling protein mentioned in the article.
