    Russian and Eastern European Civilizations
    Hi!

I applied for History at the University of Nottingham, but because my personal statement was so slanted towards Eastern European history, which is my passion, I have been rejected and instead been offered a place on Nottingham's Russian and Eastern European Civilizations. It looks like a really good course, but I'm worried where its considered a Mickey Mouse course. I'm hoping to get in academia after I graduate, so would the course be a good one for me? Am I best studying pure history elsewhere?

I'm surprised that they did not offer you a place on the joint honours History and Russian and East European Civilisations course which I'm doing now.

I too have an offer for this course. I think it might be better if I switch to Serbo-Croatian instead. I don't know what the job prospects are like for someone who's studied Russian and Eastern European Civilizations. :/
