As sceptical as I am about the Coalition, always take the Daily Mail as a source with a pinch of salt. Just look at the comments on their website, such fickel readership. -
Re: People in poorer parts of Britain to be paid less
Well I'm pretty sure that is how the private sector already works.
It sounds unfair, but I can see the practicality in it. Some public sector workers in expensive areas probably struggle, where as someone with the same pay may be relatively well off in a cheaper area. So it makes sense to give more pay to the people who actually need it. -
Re: People in poorer parts of Britain to be paid less
To an extent paying people according to how much things cost in the area they live in if done right makes sense. Although at the same time its going to force people to stay where they are and stop people moving. Someone from the North would never be in the position to move to the South

Re: People in poorer parts of Britain to be paid lessWorkers in poorer parts of Britain should have their pay frozen until it falls in line with the private sectorI wish people would actually make an effort and read the story. The move would mean local factors, such as the cost of living and private sector pay rates, would now be taken into account.
It means a teacher working in Sunderland would have a different pay packet to a colleague in Surrey. -
Re: People in poorer parts of Britain to be paid less
I just read the article on the Guardian website (Link here if anyone is interested in what they said http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/20...ions-lower-pay).
I honestly think this is a very bad idea, it can only worsen the North South divide and class divisions. Also, as far as I know.. say a Car is not cheaper in the North and neither is food or other items. One last thing, do you think the pay scale would be based off where your home address is, or where you actually work i.e. Central Manchester worker, but live in the suburbs. -
Re: People in poorer parts of Britain to be paid lessEnough of that crazy talk! Why would anyone want to do that? It's so much easier to rant regardless.(Original post by najinaji)

Re: People in poorer parts of Britain to be paid lessThese plan's won't give more pay to anyone, they'll just give some people much less. It essentially translates as pay cuts for everyone outside the South East of England.(Original post by Psyk)

Withdrawing significant amounts of pay from significant amounts of people in areas with already fragile economies is a recipe for disaster IMO. -
Re: People in poorer parts of Britain to be paid lessOh come off it.(Original post by Left Hand Drive)
I remember before the general election TSR was chalk full of tories. Nowadays there is a bit less of them. I hope they see now the disgusting party they voted for
Stop listening to the lies your parents feed you.
They're hardly disgusting. Socialists on the other hand... -
Re: People in poorer parts of Britain to be paid lessI see your point, but I'm sure that the cost of housing is the thing that eats the biggest share of one's pay packet?(Original post by Jevon177)

Oh of course. I forgot for a moment that I'm a teenager and therefore hate Tories.(Original post by Clip)
