200mg ibuprofen (1/2 at a time)
I've got a strip or whatever you call it of 200mg ibuprofen, but not the box.
Do I take 1 or 2 of them at a time? usually the brufen I take, is 2, every 4 hours. BUT the brufen I normally take is an capsule/rounded cylinder shape(and I don't have any of these or the box, that I can find), but these are rounded, like the shape of a smartie or minstrel, making me wonder if they're a different strength to the ones I normally take, meaning the dose would be different

Re: 200mg ibuprofen (1/2 at a time)do you mean you break them in half? I don't think you are supposed to do that with ibuprofen.(Original post by Clare~Bear)
Ta, yeah the foily side of the strip says they're 200mg. -
Re: 200mg ibuprofen (1/2 at a time)Yes, but without a prescription you shouldn't be taking doses like that. Only after a doctor has assessed the risks and benefits to the individual would a prescription for that dose be given. I have to say, I think what you've said is quite irresponsible because someone might read that and think it's ok to take four ibuprofens regularly without the go-ahead from their GP, and it could cause them harm.(Original post by Dumachi)
you can take up to 600mg a time, on rx you can get 800mg tablets. -

Fair enough. -
Re: 200mg ibuprofen (1/2 at a time)I do agree... I can see you were trying to be helpful but NSAID's are a bit tricky because they do carry more risks than other analgesia such as paracetamol. I myself take a lot of Diclofenac but HAVE to take it with Omeprazole because I take SNRI's which greatly increases the risk of stomach ulcers and stomach bleeding.(Original post by *Joanna*)

I know the post is over a day old, but just giving an example to demonstrate that taking over the basic dose can be quite damaging for you unless explicitly told otherwise
