What do you feel about Dow and BP as sponsors for the Olympics?
What are your thoughts about the Olympics being sponsored by “unethical” companies such as DOW (Bought Union Carbide in 2001 responsible for the Bhopal disaster causing 25,000 deaths in 1984) and BP (explosion in April 2010 causing millions of barrels of oil to be leaked from the Deepwater Horizon rig, killing 11 people)? Are ethical values more important than money?
Please let me know your thoughts!

Re: What do you feel about Dow and BP as sponsors for the Olympics?Every company is unethical. You name it. Mcdonalds, Coca Cola, Primark, RBS, Nestle. I know these aren't all sponsors but my point is, you can't have an 100% ethical sponsor or company. It's called capitalism.(Original post by MissNewfarm)

Re: What do you feel about Dow and BP as sponsors for the Olympics?Well, I think that is the heart of any discussion regarding ethics; it´s an ongoing process seen in so many aspects of life...The problem with war is that few people make decisions on behalf of many people which is VERY unethical.(Original post by sony-pony)
We attacked Iraq and Afghanistan and ended up killing hundreds of thousands of people and we're hosting the Olympics. How do you feel about that? -
Re: What do you feel about Dow and BP as sponsors for the Olympics?
i dont see any problem with it, i ask you to find better sponsors who'll throw the kind of money required at the olympics and have a more 'ethical' track record.
and besides as you said DOW didnt cause the Bhopal disaster, union carbide did and with BP well lets be honest it wasnt just them who were responsible for the gulf incident, several very large corporations were.
