Just started preparing(self-studying) for it yesterday. Looking forward to finish it in less than 10 days, is it possible?

It depends on how much statistics you've done before. If you've not done GCSE statistics before or S2/S3/S4, it'll probably take you the full 10 days.

Depends on how much you know already, if you're pretty confident then just go through all 9 mixed exercises in the textbook (should not take you too long) and then do as many past papers as you can, there are about 16 of them on Edexcel's website... This is what I am doing anyway.

Anyone got a full list of definitions for S1? I know they sometimes ask you to define things like sample space and an event.

I did GCE 'O' Level not GCSE. I haven't done any another statistic module.

    I currently don't have any knowledge of statistics. I have completed C1-4, M1-3, FP1-2.

I don't do past papers. In Jan i took the M3 and FP1 exam and for both i did only one past paper to get some idea. And i did those on the day of the exam in the morning.

I am currently on chapter 3, it looks simple till now, but does it gets difficult ahead?

Is it possible to score 100/100 in S1 by doing at most a couple of past papers?

Yeah, if memory serves me correctly S1 Nov 2003 had a couple of definition questions. I remember having to learn 20 odd definitions for S2, and I was so glad I did because they asked us to define what a significance level was, which was one of the most uncommon definitions ever.

Hopefully there'll be no definitions this year. I'd just go through the past papers noting down the definition questions and copying whatever it says in the mark scheme.

I found the most chapters quite easy, but had to spend a little longer on probability (Ch.5) and normal distribution (Ch.9) to really understand it.

I suppose it is possible to get full UMS if you know the content really well, but I would still suggest you to look at past papers and mark schemes to see how they want you to set out your answers and respond to any written questions.

Ugh, S1 and D1 clash. Why did they have to put the two most boring exams back to back. For ****s sake. Oh well, got to make sure I take my Viagra

So please inform me about the definition questions you find in past papers so that i also learn them.

Sure, will try to get them done tomorrow morning. The thing is though they could throw in one that they've never tested before (e.g. with S2). They'd never asked you what a significance level was before, but they asked it this Jan. I'll have to look through the textbook and see if they have any definitions in there.

    How is S2?
How much time does it takes to self-study it?
