You dont exactly have to be lucky at uni to get either of those things, especially when theres a much higher female:male ratio lol.

Rubbish, uni is not just about clubbing and alcohol regardless of religion. I know plenty of white non-religious people who are bored with the whole clubbing scene. I found it fun myself in first year but quickly became bored of it.

I'm asking you to tell me which "rule" in islam states that a muslim can't go to a club.

Which rule is it?

Well, Muslims have to lower their gaze. In a nightclub this is hardly possible? Secondly, Muslims are told to avoid places where haraam occurs (drinking, fornication etc)

Muslims are told not to go to places where there is temptation for shirk or didnt you know this?
Read your quran and doctrinal hadeeth.

This^, but doubt there would be shirk in a night club.

That's a fairly ambiguous rule though; can you not go into any restaurants then, as they serve alcohol there? Can't go into hotels as people have sex there?

Also I'm not sure what you mean by "lower their gaze".

Lol at people negging this - Why? It's a valid question. Maybe you should answer it instead.

There's room for temptation wherever you go nowadays. Your in tescos, and there's the alcohol aisle, packed from top to bottom with beer and wine. You go to the newsagents, Bam in your face, cigarettes on show behind the payment counter. Not to mention all the things you see on t.v / peer pressure that might make it all the more appealing.

Doesn't mean you lock yourself up at home, and isolate yourself from the rest of the world, though does it?

I think it does, especially for you being a female muslim. the quran states quite categorically you should stay at home and avoid being in public view because thats the base for all of your activities. True story.

Technically, you are told to stay away from places of alcohol sales. And you can go into hotels because the activity people get up to is hidden away from public view.

Also, as Muslims we are told to abstain from pre-marital sex/relationships, being in a club full of women/men that are scantily clad (which is true a lot of the time if not always) is going to tempt you isn't it

I think what he means is that muslims have to avoid interaction with the opposite sex so by 'lower their gaze' he/she basically means that you have to avoid any temptation to dance or stare at the person. ( Look down -lower gaze)
In a nightclub people usually go to dance/hook up whatever and all of these things are forbidden in islam so muslims avoid going to nightclubs so they are not tempted to take part.

Muslims can go anywhere but they have to avoid temptations.Restaurants and Hotels are fine as long as they are not taking part in the drinking.

Where did you get that from ? It doesn't state that in the Quran, don't generalise just becuase some cultures encourage that doesn't mean Islam encourages it.

anyone tell me what uni life is like for you as a Muslim? Because for everyone else uni life is about clubbing and getting wasted so i was wondering how muslims find uni in terms of fitting in and stuff. Thanks.

Dawg, you don't have to drink to have a good time. It just happens to be a popular route. You can still socialise with people and such.
However, if you're awfully strict about these things, you'll always find Muslim [and other religious groups too] societies in almost every university to go to. All you've got to do is ask the student union - They can point you in the right directions.

Evidence please (verse) ? Where did you get that from ? It doesn't state that in the Quran, don't generalise just because some cultures encourage that doesn't mean Islam encourages it.

Like I said, why bother? not wasting my time on you.. i've done enough of that in the past.

Not deflecting, by all means carry on, and I can sit here and laugh at your ignorance.
