    Here are the society lists
    http://www.umsu.manchester.ac.uk/societies/list/
    http://www.sport.manchester.ac.uk/athletic-union

If there's nothing there that takes your fancy (I've included the sporty ones because you might also be interested in that) then you may find that the RNCM lets UoM students join their societies (I know UoM let MMU join our societies...), or you could start your own

If anyone could provide any info on how to tap into RNCM societies that would be great, good idea, but something is not right here, manchester is the second biggest music centre after London and neither of its universities has a live music society?! This can't to be the case, out of the 11 uni's I know, all of them have some form of live soc where musicians can meet up and form bands, the more realistic solution here is that there is something else doing what a live music society would cater for, but the question is what it is...

I suspect it's just because the RNCM (which is slap next door to UoM and MMU) attracts the really musical ones, the casual classical musicians do stuff like orchestra, and the few others just form bands randomly. It does seem a little strange, though, now you mention it.

I had a quick look and couldn't find anything on RNCM societies (you would have thought they had some, although they only have about 650 students), so maybe emailing someone from their students union (which does exist!) would be a good way forward.

I see, That's cool. Yea, hopefully there'll be a live music place where bands can be formed!

Just to chime in I also was interested to find there was no 'band society'. Would be up for joining / starting one up next year!
