New Cars with free insurance
Hi guys,
I'm looking to get a new car in the next few months as the old one is being handed down. Was just wondering if any car companies were doing 3/5 years free insurance with a new car? Having looked for a quote my 1998 polo is being quoted 3000 which is ridiculous.
Any help would be appreciated. -

Chevrolet does it too as does Vauxhall but some of them require you to be 21 or above. -
Re: New Cars with free insuranceHow on earth does insurance cost you more than me?(Original post by nnkuk)
Thats fine, I am 21.
Are you in the market for a new car, or are you getting one just because of the added insurance?
Beware, and make sure you read the small print. If you're stuck in some kind of finance agreement, that you can't exit without penalty and you find insurance is high, it may be a false economy.
Peugeot has it's "just add fuel" scheme, and Vauxhall also have some offers. I also believe new VW Polo's have a years of insurance if you finance one, but that offer is valid only until the end of March.Last edited by Sgt.Incontro; 18-03-2012 at 17:55. Reason: Fixed spelling -
Re: New Cars with free insuranceHave you made any claims? Where do you live? How much mileage do you do? Many factors to be honest... I am not so knowledgeable on insurance tbh, I used to be a apprentice mechanic.(Original post by nnkuk)
I do need a new car, but I'd prefer to get a used one if it worked out cheaper. The only reason I'm looking for a new one is the insurance, I have been driving as a named driving since 17 so I don't really understand.
Have you checked any of the above offers I mentioned? -
Re: New Cars with free insuranceI know, I would be surprised if any of them were good deals. Finance is usually a rip-off. Look harder, and you will at least see the VW one as well, not sure if Vauxhall still does it.(Original post by nnkuk)
Sorry, found the Peugot one, its actually ridiculously expensive. -
Re: New Cars with free insurance
The 'free' insurance offers usually have other conditions other than age -e.g. X years no claims bonus. The Peugeot conditions are:
Drivers over 25 (Over 30 for 308 CC 156bhp models) and under 75.
A maximum of 1 motoring conviction in the last 5 years (CU, MW, PC, PL, SP, TS codes only).
Must have a minimum of 2 years No Claims Discount.
A maximum of 1 fault or theft claim per driver in the past 3 years.
All drivers must have a full UK/EU licence for a minimum of 2 years. -
Re: New Cars with free insuranceFrom experience, it is rare that a free insurance offer works out cheaper than getting a good cash discount when buy the car outright.(Original post by nnkuk)

Every now and then there are good financing deals, but those usually are from other sources rather than from manufacturer. -
Re: New Cars with free insuranceI agree- some car companies do 1 years free insurance when you buy a new car. Im not sure which ones are doing it at the minute, as ive not really looked into it myself, but i have seen adverts for free insurance for a year from citroen in the past. And i think they do say you have to be 21 (which you have said you are so thats fine).(Original post by Herr)

Re: New Cars with free insuranceMate if you're 21 and you got quoted £3000 you got bumped.(Original post by nnkuk)
Thats fine, I am 21.
I'm 17, live in the worst part of London in regards to theft. And I got quoted £
£2600 for a 1.4 civic. -
Re: New Cars with free insurance
£3k on insurance for 21 years old is stupid. I looked at quotes for when I'm 21 with 0 years no claim but held license for 4 years (since 17), I got quoted £900 for a 1.4 Polo and £2100 for a 2.0 Hyundai Coupe which is reasonable and I live in a fair **** part of manchester. Have a shop around first for insurance. Add your parents or relatives as named drivers, it lowers it by alot and its actually legal.

Please, where did you get this quote. I am also struggling eventhough I am 22 and female. Will appreciate your help, thank you -
Re: New Cars with free insuranceDepends on the car.... and also try confused.com, use it as a indicator rather then actual insurance price, as calling up can lower it(Original post by duntan)

Thread is a year old(Original post by Camoxide)
£760 for my first year of insurance... (1 litre Nissan Micra)
And that was as the main driver.
£640 for my 2nd year (MG ZR)
£3000 is insane
