My advice is don't crash. Doesn't set you up well for following lessons really, oh and try not to hit anyone up, I wasn't allowed to drive for a while after that...

Go nice and slow at first.....because the acceleration is quite sensitive in gear 1.
Make sure, you make smooth releases/pressure on the pedals as well.

Be responsive, listen to your instructor. It must be incredibly frustrating to teach someone who doesn't listen, so take everything on board. Make a good first impression, befriend your instructor. I personally went out with my dad before and learnt a couple of things, so it made me feel a little bit ahead, haha. However, the biggest piece of advice I can give you is to keep calm! Enjoy learning to drive; the people that enjoy it are the people who will pass the quickest, simply because they love to drive

    Do not worry!

Look out for parked cars and do not brake harshly. On my first lesson, I nearly crashed into a lamppost 3 times and I braked by pushing the brake pedal straight to the floor and I ended up stalling the car.

    It was pretty awkward.

You'll be fine. Just do what your instructor tells you, you'll really enjoy it. Let us know how you get on. Driving can seen a bit hard at first. You think "there's no way I'll be able to do this", but it really does all fall in place eventually.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. Stick in there and you'll be on the road by yourself in no time:cool:. I think you should start studying for the theory test just now, if you haven't done so already, it's always nice to get the thoery out of the way so all you then need to do is get stuck in to your lessons and get ready for your practical test.

Yeah, I done my theory in December and just passed my driving test yesterday.

I'm getting the new ford focus. Need to wait about a week until it's ordered in and then I've to go and get it.

Thanks. I've just turned 22, you? How many lessons are you doing a week? I started off at one a week but then moved to two a week. It help you develope much more, if you have the money for it obviously.

Yeah, I'm chuffed. I'm looking forward to being on the road on my own but I still need to remember that just becuase I've passed my test it doesn't mean I've learnt eveything lol. The real learning begins now
