Sodium? It and magnesium have the most electron shells so they have larger atomic radii, and sodium has a smaller radius than magnesium because magnesium has a greater nuclear charge in its nucleus, which holds the electrons a little closer to the centre (thereby decreasing its radius in comparison to sodium).
    Spot on mate.

It sure has, don't worry, you'll do fine. :yep:

I'm gonna pop off now and look at my syllabus now in great detail to see what I still need to brush up on.

    Back on.

Why does data have to be standard when carrying out calculations?

    Hello,

Data, or more so the experiments that the data is collected from are conducted at standard conditions (1 Atm etc..) which then allows that data to be compared with other sets of data.

I'm absolutely horrible at the MCQ section :C I did all the papers from 2008-2012 and the max i can get in the MCQ section is 12.

Does anyone have MCQs that i could do?

Is it just me or do you guys find that there is a big gap between the difficulty of the theory between units 1 and 2?

I'd suggest knocking out answers which you think is wrong, that might things a little easier.

    Guys, in the syllabus, 1.5bi

-deduce the isotopic composition of a sample of an element eg polonium

    What does that mean?

Is it just asking you to tell how many different isotopes are present when given data or something?

i think its when you have like isoptopes of an element, like I46 AND I 47 and you have their abundance such as 60% and 40% so you do

    46x60 + 47x40 / 100 = the mass.

    or im completely clueless lol

80%. Although it would have helped if my sixth form didn't lose one or two of the better scripts we did.

Anyone else done the specimen paper? 70/80 on, fairly pleased

Also, does anyone know what the standard raw marks are for 80% and 90% UMS? (I know it depends on the paper, but on average.)

Can someone tell me the difference between bond enthalpy and MEAN bond enthalpy, some of the questions they ask are quite strange!

Not sure if its the wording or something but i think it should be larger. If not please tell me why im wrong lol...

amount of energy per mole to break a bond-bond enthalpy

energy needed to break one mole of bonds in the gas phase, averaged over many different compounds- mean bond enthalpy
