Re: Is anyone going to the Strathclyde business school open day tomorrow? That is what somebody told, because I asked! Maybe someone didn't have enough information! If both, the lady at the language desk AND at the Business desk both told you that it's fine, I guess it will be! That news really made me happy(Original post by imonlylittle)
isnt it a BA Honours anyway? As in Business (N100) for Strathclyde is a BA (Honours)
got me a little paranoid haha!
-
Re: Is anyone going to the Strathclyde business school open day tomorrow?me too! i didnt think i could do that, and that was the only reason i wanted to go to glasgow... but strathclyde it is(Original post by alaska.)

what did you apply for? (: -
Re: Is anyone going to the Strathclyde business school open day tomorrow?Really?! You are coming to Strathclyde?!(Original post by imonlylittle)
me too! i didnt think i could do that, and that was the only reason i wanted to go to glasgow... but strathclyde it is
what did you apply for? (:
That's good news!
I initially applied for Business Enterprise .... but I dont think I will stick with that. I don't know yet which modules would be best to pick up, I only know that it won't be Accounting
(I don't think my maths is good enough for that!). I'd like Economics, maybe Management ... Depends on if I get into IBML or not. What did you apply for?!
Do you think you'll switch or stay with your choice?!
-
Re: Is anyone going to the Strathclyde business school open day tomorrow?
yeah! finally made my mind up - well glasgow made it up for me when they rejected me haha!
BUT i've always preferred strath and its better for business
you definitely coming to strathclyde?
i need to firm though!
lol i just keep getting paranoid i applied to the wrong level of course and thats why i got an unconditional! but its N100, what they said to apply for, SOO hopefully thats right xD
yeah i applied for general business cause i didnt know what i wanted to do, all i knew was it wasnt going to be accounting too! xD
I love economics, find it soo interesting! But yeah, I'm thinking the same two as you! -
Re: Is anyone going to the Strathclyde business school open day tomorrow?
Yes, I am definitely coming to Strathclyde!!
I firmed about 2 weeks ago and sent in my documents last thursday .... so I hope they change the Conditional to an Unconditional soon
(Seems to be the procedure for most international applicants!)
Yeah, I couldn't believe it either! After quite a lot of rejections I finally had an offer
I wouldn't take it too hard, being rejected. Sometimes it is reason that you do not understand...
Haha, that's funny! Economics does sound awesome, I did some stuff in school about it, and I loved it too
but that's the good thing about Strathclyde, that you can try out lots of stuff and see if you like it!
Guess you're applying to accomodation soon?
-
Re: Is anyone going to the Strathclyde business school open day tomorrow?yeah i know its great, can change your mind so easily within the business school!(Original post by alaska.)

I firmed mine about a month ago and applied for accommodation around the same time
I applied for all three en-suite rooms, so I hope get one of them xD
Have you applied for accommodation? If so what did you choose?
-
Re: Is anyone going to the Strathclyde business school open day tomorrow?I would have liked En-suite as well, but that wouldd have stretched my parents budget a bit too much(Original post by imonlylittle)

Living is more expensive in Scotland than it is in Germany
I applied for Garnett Hall, James Blyth & Thomas Campbell. Garnett is my first choice as it has a sink
might turn out useful for a girl! I really hope that they don't put me into Birkbeck. As I only have a Conditional still it is not ensured that I get my prefered choices
Did you get something like a confirmation from Strathclyde that they received that you firmed? I got a letter from UCAS with that "CF" code a bit later, but that was about it. I am still waiting if I can transfer into my prefered course
Do you know when you want to move in?
-
Re: Is anyone going to the Strathclyde business school open day tomorrow?
Aw well I'm getting a student loan and hopefully getting a wee job when I move to Glasgow, but even without a part time job I can manage to afford it, I think! xD
haha yeah if I don't get en-suite, i'd like at least a sink! I specifically put in my application I dont want Birkbeck halls, I said anything but xD
I sooo hope I get my first choice of James Goold, it just looks so nice! I know theres probably little chance, but I hope since I applied reasonably early and have an unconditional ill have some chance
I got a letter securing my place, but It didnt specifically say anything about it being an unconditional, think it must have been a standardised letter confirming my place there...
If I were you I would call up just in case, just to ensure
and then at the same time you can ask to speak to someone about your course transfer and see what they say, I think as long as you meet the conditional requirements for the course that you'll be fine..
errrm I dont know really, move in is usually the weekend before freshers week, guess they'll let us know all that when they send offers of accommodation.. since ill probably get mine first i'll let you know what the letter says

Re: Is anyone going to the Strathclyde business school open day tomorrow?I got a conditional offer as well and I'm impatiently waiting to have my **** results (27th June: Results, 6th July: Diploma) I already applied for student accomodation and I'll visit Strathclyde on the 13th June! What are you going to study?(Original post by alaska.)

You got a Conditional! (I misread that in the "Accomodation at Strathclyde University" thread). Just apply for SAAS anyway, it doesn't matter if you only have a Conditional. I think they will update mine in mid-July when all the scottish pupils get their highers although I met my conditions ages ago. Oh that's a shame ... I am not going then. I intended to go but couldn't anymore. Otherwise we could have met up!
I applied for Business Enterprise but I kindly asked if I could transfer to International Business with Modern Languages. They said they can't give me an answer before July. If you have any questions I would just call them. They are extremly helpful at Strathclyde, or that's at least what I found! What did you apply for?
-
Re: Is anyone going to the Strathclyde business school open day tomorrow?I tried to apply for SAAS but now they do not recognize my postal code... -.-(Original post by alaska.)

I applied for JCW = Journalism and Creative Writing and Economy
So you're from Germany? Where exactly are you from?
My last oral exam is on Tuesday and I'll leave to Scotland immediately after having finished!
-
Re: Is anyone going to the Strathclyde business school open day tomorrow?Oh, that's strange. Maybe phone them? I think you need to try various ways of writing it. I think it took me a few tries as well. Otherwise I would try to give them a call. But better early in the morning as they have enormous phone queues later in the day(Original post by steph.b)

I called them twice and only had to wait two minutes till it was my turn. However, I tried calling on Friday and should have waited till 53 people would have asked their question first - No thanks!
Ah, that sounds like a very interesting subject. I didn't know you could combine it with Economy!
I met two very nice girls who want to study the same subject at an open day in March.
Yeah, I'm from Germany. I live near Dortmund (maybe you know it? Quite a big city). Oh wow, good luck for you then
Hope the exam will go well. I will leave just before Freshers' Week.
-
Re: Is anyone going to the Strathclyde business school open day tomorrow?I just gave a phone call to a friend of mine and he said that I'd have to have an address in Scotland for SAAS. I'll probably ask at the open day for more information!(Original post by alaska.)

Well it was proposed as such on their webpage, but I want to do some joined honours, but I still have to figure out how that works!
I'm from Luxembourg, so yes, I know where Dortmund is! My brother is studying in Vechta near Bremen
Und wenn du magst kann ich natürlich auch deutsch mit dir schreiben
-
Re: Is anyone going to the Strathclyde business school open day tomorrow?Really?! I think you have to have one if you are not a member of the European Union ... then you need to be there some time in August. But I do not remember correctly. It was stated somewhere on the page.(Original post by steph.b)

Ahh, I get it. Should be possible to switch when you get there, it seems very flexible at Strathclyde!
-
Re: Is anyone going to the Strathclyde business school open day tomorrow?I had the same problem. They ask for the postal code so they can automatically fill in your adress, but they can't do that since your adress isn't in Scotland. You should leave that box blank and just fill in your whole adress (Street, postal code, city, country) in the spaces below that one and then it should work. At least it did for me.(Original post by steph.b)
I tried to apply for SAAS but now they do not recognize my postal code... -.-

Re: Is anyone going to the Strathclyde business school open day tomorrow?

)

Re: Is anyone going to the Strathclyde business school open day tomorrow?
I'm going to be there tomorrow! I'm feeling quite nervous because I'll be there by myself and I must be the worst person in the world for finding my way around...I'm pretty much guarenteed to get lost. Ah well... I hope everybody finds out all that they are hoping to and more!

Re: Is anyone going to the Strathclyde business school open day tomorrow?I never even realised there was a thing for it! My prom was that day so I wouldnt have been able to go, but wish I could have went!(Original post by kirstyhr)
