Financial Problems For International Students In Uk
As a student coming to uk for the first time in september i would likely have a few problems...i am thinking about the financial problem...How much do international students earn in their part time jobs since they have to pay rent, travelling, food and most important of all the 9000 pound tution fees....My Parents would give My 1st year fee but i dont want to be a burden so i want to give my own fee the next year...My question is do international students earn enough money from jobs to cover the tution fees?
Thanks -
Re: Financial Problems For International Students In Uk
I believe there is a limit to how many hours you are allowed to work as an international student. Also, international fees are likely to be higher than the £9000 home fees. It is extremely unlikely that you will earn enough from a part time job to cover tuition and living costs. You would be looking at somewhere in the region of £14-16k, or even more, depending on where your university is. This amount is several thousand more than someone working full time hours on minimum wage.
I also believe international students need to show the university how they are going to fund their studies before they enroll. Have a look here: http://www.ukcisa.org.uk/student/working_during.php -
Re: Financial Problems For International Students In Uk
You have to understand that the primary reason international students are allowed in is to subsidise everyone else. Thus, they're charged more for the same thing, not given loans / grants / bursaries and allowed in with substandard English.
Unfortunately there's no way that you can support yourself - even excluding tuition fees, which are going to be more than £9k - and get a good degree. If you say that you need £7500 to live off (which is, roughly speaking, equivalent to full financial support for UK students from the government), then you'd need to be working an average of 24 hours a week on adult minimum wage of £6.08ph, when universities recommend that you work no more than 16 hours as an absolute maximum, and your visa conditions will limit you to 10 or 20 hours a week. -
Re: Financial Problems For International Students In Uk
No. International students are only allowed max 20 hours per week work during term time. This will definitely not be enough to pay for tuition, only works out to maximum pounds. Of course
Either way, you definitely aren't guaranteed a job. Some international students do, some don't. It depends on how well you network and how well you present yourself. However, I definitely would not RELY on getting a job for any money whatsoever -
Re: Financial Problems For International Students In UkIt would be impossible to find a job for 20 hours a week that pays enough to pay the tuition fees AND living costs.(Original post by elitebag)
if without family support ,you need find some good paid job to support your cost.It is quite tired to earn for all the cost by yourself . -
Re: Financial Problems For International Students In Ukhi,(Original post by Shani)
That will be dependant on university, but there won't be many, if any at all.
i live in the UK but my fee status hasn't been confirmed yet, so it maybe that i'm classified as an overseas student. my question is, if i am classified as an overseas student, i will not be needing a visa as i already live in the UK, but despite this, will the university still require me to provide information about my parents' financial ability to pay the fees? normally this is necessary for student visa application processes but do you know whether they would require financial information from someone in my situation, who doesn't need a student visa to the UK but who is an international student? thank you!!
