It's election time!

The TSR Model House of Commons is holding a general election for you to decide who you wish to be represented by in the next TSR Parliament.

There are a number of different parties and independents to choose from and their policies don't always match up with the real life equivalent, so please read through their manifestos. The result of the vote will determine how many seats each party gets in the new Parliament.

Voting will be open until Saturday 31st March. You must have been on TSR more than 3 months and have over 150 posts to vote.*

If you're wondering what all of this Model Parliament stuff is about, have a read of our newbie guide to find out more and if you like the look of one of our parties, why not join them?

*If you meet this criteria but have neg rep, you may find yourself unable to vote. If this is the case, PM me and I'll add your vote in.

barnetlad,Vote for Barnetlad- you know it makes sense

The spirit of the late Screaming Lord Sutch should be a part of any democracy and this includes the model HofC. So vote for me and support policies such as:
- The introduction of a 99p coin
- The voting age to be lowered to 16
- Keeping the pound (and the ounce, the furlong, the yard and all other imperial measures)
- Wensleydale cheese should be a protected species
- The European Constitution will be sorted out by going for a long Walk. As everyone knows that walking is good for the constitution
- Pram lanes in all shopping centres

Tired of economic failure, huge unemployment, excessive red tape and a failing tax system?

Tired of our insistence on entering into war when unprovoked?

Scared of a restricted internet in the name of anti-Piracy?

If you answered yes to one or more of the above questions, vote Libertarian - here's some reasons.

Our recent achievements & goals, we:

Legalised drugs to help addicts and stop funding organised crime.

Restored civil liberties, with 7 day maximum detention, no CCTV funding and repealed other invasive laws.

Legalised brothels, because consenting sex between adults is no business of the state, we have a safe regulated brothel industry.

Ended the war on the motorist, by ensuring that all speed cameras show significant safety improvement in order to remain.

Reduced income tax for all, dropped VAT to 12.5% and scrapped council tax, ending the living standards squeeze.

Condemned the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) which threatens threatens freedom of expression and privacy and called for a complete open re-negotiation.

Repealed Sunday Trading laws, lowered the age of suffrage and passed a motion protecting the Falkland Islanders' right to self-determination.

Will continue to rebalance the tax system to further make taxes more progressive, lower and simpler.

Will ensure that businesses are free to create jobs and grow by reducing red tape and opposing the creep of new regulations.

If you're not voting Libertarian, you're not paying attention.

TSR

As capitalist societies struggle to reconcile their profiteering with stark economic truths, the TSR Socialist Party continues to strive towards an alternative that is more humane, more sustainable and fairer for everybody. Additions to our agenda include :

- The nationalization of water supplies : We firmly believe that water, as a basic and indelible human need, should also be a similarly basic right, and as such accessible to all citizens regardless of social, economic or other situations. As it is rarely in the interest of private parties to establish a resource in this fashion, we believe that it should be the responsibility of the state to carry this out.

We will continue to push for :

- Decent pensions and free social care for senior citizens
- The introduction of a living wage
- Free insulation for homes, schools and hospitals
- Reduced tuition fees for university students
- The nationalization of energy resources and the railway system

We will continue to oppose :

- Proposals to further reduce taxes for the wealthy
- Attempts to cut funding for public institutions such as the NHS, or proposals that they be incorporated into the private sector
- Unnecessary profit-driven ‘interventions’ in foreign sovereign states

Above all, we will continue to stand for our ideals; we are a party built around a belief in liberty, equality and justice for all.

The Socialist Party: TSR's left-wing choice

JPKC,
As an MP I would pursue policies for a robust economy: economic growth, job creation and a balanced budget. I advocate redeveloping industries that provide skilled jobs and steady growth (such as manufacturing) through deregulation and tax breaks. Britain needs more social mobility - opportunity should not depend on a person's social background.

For this reason also, the education system should be fair: an equal playing field. Internships should always be paid, tuition fees should not hamper young people with ridiculous debt.

Public services like the NHS should not have internal competitive markets; public money shouldn’t pay for private profit.

I would like to see gender equity in the workplace. At current, women get paid much less than men for doing the exact same work in the exact same jobs. Gender should not affect your chances to do well in business.

It shouldn't be crazy to expect the transport system to work properly. If elected I'd vote to decrease rail fares and increase efficiency. Spending on infrastructure projects like high-speed rail and new airports should exist to both modernise Britain and stimulate the economy.

The last several years demonstrate the desperate need for reform of the financial system. As an MP I would introduce legislation to separate investment from commercial banking, this would protect ordinary people from obscure cataclysms in the financial district. I also want a change in the toxic culture of some banks; making bonuses payable only in shares would be a step towards this.

TSR UKIP Working for a better Britain

Over the last Parliament, TSR UKIP has consistently worked on behalf of the people of Britain to ensure a fairer society for all. Our achievements have included:
- The removal of super-injunctions to ensure a free press

- Attempting to reform the education system
TSR UKIP once again needs your vote to ensure that we can continue to our goal of a better Britain. We are not just a one issue party and we pledge the following:
- The withdrawal of UK troops from combat roles by 31st December 2014 from Afghanistan.

- To resist any further bailouts of Eurozone countries when those countries do not make a sufficient effort to support their fellow member states.

- Wide-scale reform of international aid to target it to those countries that need it while also encouraging a philosophy of trade rather than aid to also help stimulate the UK economy.

- Reform of the House of Commons to close current loopholes within the Constitution.

- To oppose any attempt to privatise the NHS while working with GPs to ensure that the NHS is reformed where necessary.

- To ensure that our armed forces are properly equipped to cope with the demands of combat (this includes help and support after missions)
TSR UKIP will work to ensure that together we can build a better Britain. It is not selfish to put British interests first, but we are the only party to do so.

VOTE TSR UKIP!

We stand for freedom and fairness. We want a future where rights are respected, politicians are accountable, markets are strengthened and inequalities of opportunities are eliminated. Join us, and together we can make this future a reality.

To ensure a free today , we would reform the welfare state, to protect people in need without dependency.

We would also build affordable homes, giving priority to those in need. Unused houses would be brought back to use, to help people without a home.

The NHS will always remain free at the point of delivery. Quality of Care will be a high standard and Patient's care needs will come first.

In transport, we will construct a First Class Rail Network; reopening rail lines and building a high speed rail network. We will make rail travel affordable by lowering fares. We will also reform Network Rail, making it accountable and transparent.

We would scrap Trident through multilateral disarmament and use the saving on our Armed Forces, buying kit fit for purpose. We hope that others will follow Britain’s lead into a world free from these dreadful weapons.

To build a fair tomorrow , we would improve the education system by providing additional support to those in need. We would open up the system so that any child can go to University and Private Schools, while rewarding hard work and dedication.

We will seek the energy independence of the UK, increasing emphasis on renewable energy production and investment in new energy technologies, like nuclear fusion.

The Liberal Democrats We believe in the future, for you and for your descendants.
What do you believe in?

TSR

Everybody should have an equal chance - but they shouldn't have a flying start - Harold Wilson.

As the largest party in a coalition government last term, the TSR Labour party has much to be proud of, such as championing consumer rights and reforming the legal system. There is still much to do, and with your support we can continue to make Britain a fairer society for us all to live in.

The TSR Labour Party believe:

It's time to ensure that real jobs are available to more people. Labour would increase capital spending, seek to reform national insurance and crack down on dangerous financial practices.

Fairness and simplicity should be the heart of the tax system. Labour will propose a more progressive tax system, while cracking down on tax loopholes.

The NHS is a key part of British society and must be protected. Labour would stop any further privatization and put patients before profits.

There need to be life chances for everyone, and that's why we'll fight to remove private schools' charitable status, reduce tuition fees, and create vital apprenticeships for those who aren't suited to university.

We want to give young people the world, and that's why we'd create free public transport travel for students and those under the age of 18.

Green, clean and beautiful that's the country we want to preserve for the next generation, and that means expanding renewable energy sources and funding green research.

I am sure that is exactly how it went

Also why the hell are you lying in your manifesto? you did not "champion consumer rights and reform the legal system"... you had one bill and it FAILED.

You achieved nothing and called the election to get out of being held to account!

Will you be accepting him back into Labour then should he not gain a seat? Furthermore, if he gains a seat and wishes to rejoin Labour, would you let him considering that he said of tehfrance:

That should not be allowed. Parties were explicitly limited to submit one candidate in this by-election out of practicality.

I think it would be a very poor show if it emerges that the Tories have submitted two candidates with both Lipvig and tehFrance.

That's exactly how it went, in fact I made it quite clear that I thought he could make a good contribution to the party and would rather he didn't leave.

Probably, but personally I think he will win a seat.

I would like to know the million dollar question, is TCIT standing as an Independent again. I asked and he did not give an answer

Hopefully the above poll has answered your question.

I can't QFA, i'm on my phone but if JPKC sees this I was just wondering what made you run as an independent, having just become an MP for labour less than a month ago?

Anyway, voted, good manifesto from us!

Can I also ask why you claim that you claim that you are reforming the legal system when, about our bill to remove super injunctions altogether, a member of your party stated the following:

Your parties have submitted bills that would damage the country

So your party clearly believes that a free media damages the country.

as Moleman1996 asked but couldn't QFA you, why are you running as an independent?
This is a tough one. I honestly won't rule out anything from Socialism right through to the Libertarians.

In the coming days I'll be quizzing each of the parties/independents.
