displaying age etc of posters
My minds gone blank at the technical name of what i mean
but when you see a post, at top of each one is a bit saying the posters username, rep, post count etc.
Well in that bit i would find it useful and others probably would to if uhe age or level ie GCSE /A LVL etc was stated. Im doing A2 biology so can give a very detailed answer to 'how/what does photosynthesis work/happen?' But it would be way to complicated for a year 8 person, but most of the time they dont give their age or year group so then i have to reply asking them what level they're at so i can give them an appropriate answer, but this can add hours or even more than a day onto the process, if they dont mention. -
Re: displaying age etc of posters
I think you mean postbit

Interesting idea
I can definitely see why being aware of the level of study the question relates to would be helpful in tailoring your response.
Have you seen the Study Help thread labels we introduced recently? These are intended to help with classification of questions by study level, although you will notice that they are currently fairly general so one would use the same label for a Year 8 level question as a GCSE one.
The labels are still fairly new and so any and all feedback is most welcome! Do you think it would be helpful to have further differentiation? -
Re: displaying age etc of posters
Yeah I noticed they're available on study help sections but not everyone uses them I don't think, plus in other sections it would be useful. Like when someone asks about religion or health and you have no idea how to explain it to them in words that aren't either patronising or way over their heads.

Re: displaying age etc of posters
Some people display their age on their profiles, but it's not compulsory (and it shouldn't be).
The labels are well used in the study help forums, the vast majority are tagged with a specific level - it's for this reason that they were introduced
In terms of replying to someone at a level they can understand, the quality of their post is often a reasonable indication of what level they are at.
