Is this a good car/price?
I am looking at this car, does anyone have any advice on this car model and does the price seem reasonable to you.
Thanks

Re: Is this a good car/price?
Looks reasonable. Has full service history and given its a diesel and the mileage, its probably spent most of its life on the motorway so should drive well. I'd go for a test drive and make sure everythings working. Also theres always room for negotiation so I'd try and haggle down the price or get 12 months tax from them etc.

Parkers with no refinement 55reg Megane1.5 dCi Extreme (86bhp) 3d
Original Price £12,215
Franchised Dealer £2,785
Independent Dealer £2,690
Private Good £2,420
Private Poor £1,845
Part Exchange £2,125
The prices above are based on: A mileage of 70,000 (average for age)
Options selected: None
Obviously to get a better estimate you need to pay and refine the details but overall NO it is NOT a good deal. Look at the Independent Dealer price and your dealer is asking for vastly more. Also remember this estimate is not refined with exact details such as mileage thus expect the prices to be lowered further.
To put things in perspective my girlfriend owns a 57reg Megane 1.5 dCi Dynamique (106bhp) 5d:
with no refinement Parkers says:
Original Price £15,230
Franchised Dealer £3,960
Independent Dealer £3,810
Private Good £3,500
Private Poor £2,740
Part Exchange £3,155
The prices above are based on: A mileage of 60,000 (average for age)
Options selected: None
On another note, I personally cannot recommend the Megane too many electrical faults - windows, heater, radio to name a few.Last edited by DaveDavids; 4 Days Ago at 19:27. -

Re: Is this a good car/price?
It's pretty reasonably priced. You can get higher trim level cars / facelift cars for the same money, so you may want to consider an upgrade from poverty spec. That said, the one you're looking at is one of the few black ones in a sea of silver cars, so it has that in its favour.
Don't pay too much attention to Parkers price guide - looking at what's on the market will give you a much better idea of what a car is worth.
