Overrated: CHEESE.
what are we, an Aardman cartoon?? It's not BAD, bud a widge of cheddar will hardly make a cream cracker less DRY!!
Underrated: SALMON PASTE.
cheapy tubs of paste are so frequently frowned upon, but crackers are a perfect vehicle for their cheap delicious easy-spreadiness.
Overrated and underrated FOODS WHEN YOURE DIETING? -
Re: Food and Drink: In That Category These Are Nominated - Overrated and Underrated!
OVER: Salad. Yay, leaves. Don't get me wrong I love salad, but it seems like it's the instant go to when people are dieting. And often they'll laden it up with heavy sauces and defeat the whole point of it. There are lots of other low calorie options that will be great for a diet!
UNDER: Crackerbread/melba toast. A great alternative to bread. Spread it with a bit of light cream cheese, or some smoked salmon and boom you've got yourself a nice, low calorie lunch! Just as long as you limit yourself to a couple because those things are addictive!

Re: Food and Drink: In That Category These Are Nominated - Overrated and Underrated!
OVER: Lamb Doner Kebab - I don't think there's a single person who actually likes the taste of that meat, it's salty and horrible and tastes like sweat. There's a reason people only eat it when they're drunk.
UNDER: Chicken Doner Kebab - a much more preferable item, the chicken is always moist and delicious, and it's perfect when you're starving after a night out.

Re: Food and Drink: In That Category These Are Nominated - Overrated and Underrated!
OVERRATED: A BIG GREASY MUNCHY BOX /DONNER.
Leaves you with greasy "kebab mouth", that waxy fat coating when you wake up, that exacerbates that hangover to hell... Plus a munchy box has 5000-7000 calories. REGRET MUCH BRO??
UNDERRATED: BREAKFAST CEREAL
Well, its 2am, that's morning, right? But seriously, its not only far more virtuous but you're getting that craved sugar and the milk is giving the fatty lactic stomach coating you need after all the burnt booze, meaning you wake up less BLURGH.
OVER AND UNDER OF SPECIAL K ITEMS (LOLUNDERRATED SPECIAL K IKNO LAWL) -
Re: Food and Drink: In That Category These Are Nominated - Overrated and Underrated!
Toto, patience is a virtue :P
OVER: SPECIAL K RED BERRIES CEREAL. The Red Berries taste so bitter, like the ones in that Jordan's crisp cereal, but at least with that you got the sweetness of the granola to offset the bitterness - though it does still ruin it in my view, I play the whole 'dodge the dried fruit crap when pouring my bowl out and eating it. But with this, you think to yourself, 'Oh, the bitterness of the berries is OK, because it's healthy cereal, so it won't all taste amazing'. Seriously, you really think this product is great because it 'tastes so good, but is also really healthy'? Have you actually read the nutrition? No, I didn't think so. Changing your mind about this super cool healthy cereal now? Yeah, I thought so.
UNDER: It is worth noting here I think that the new 'Biscuit Moments' should be commended for their honesty; Go Ahead try the whole '70 cals' deceiving claim (its just for one slice), whereas these Biscuit Moments account for both slices, like a normal person would eat. Bravo King's of the S-K world. You are good people. But as far as taste goes, as I havent tried the Moments, the award goes to Mini Breaks Chocolate. For 99 cals (ok, call it 100) it's quite a good snack, because you get your chocolate fix, as well as knowing you havent indulged TOO much. Whereas with the chocolate chip cereal bar (80 cals and pretty damn tasty) its one thing to eat and then its over, with the breaks you get a few in a bag so can savour each one and make it last long.
OVER AND UNDER OF BASSETTS SWEETS -
Re: Food and Drink: In That Category These Are Nominated - Overrated and Underrated!
OVERRATED: I was going to say Allsorts, but that would be a personal vendetta. Instead I'll vote JELLY BABIES. I have no idea why these floury, waxy things are so popular. And with seven... SEVEN of them being 100 cals, it's like... WHY AM I EATING THESE?! JELLY BELLY ARE 4CAL EACH FOR FLAAVOURGASMAGE!!
UNDERRATED: PEAR DROPS. I rarely hear folk under 60 mention these but they're one of the unique few AWESOME pear-related sweets in existence!!

Re: Food and Drink: In That Category These Are Nominated - Overrated and Underrated!
Over: cheese and ham chicken escalopes. I've never understood the obsession with these, I like chicken, I like Ham and I like cheese, but these things are not good. It's the reformed cheese and ham mix I dislike
Under: lemon and pepper turkey escalopes, just because everyone opts for the plain ones but these see really nice, the lemon just works.
Over and under of lemon desserts -
Re: Food and Drink: In That Category These Are Nominated - Overrated and Underrated!
OVER: Lemon meringue pie. Just...why? It's not got much substance to it, the lemon is often badly done jelly substance thing, and it just seems like such a standard. I don't get it, am I missing out on the thing that makes this so popular?
UNDER: Lemon sorbet. It's light, refreshing and really cleans your taste buds after a meal. People think it's a bit simple, but I just love that about it.
OVER and UNDER of: Hot sandwiches -
Re: Food and Drink: In That Category These Are Nominated - Overrated and Underrated!
OVERRATED: THE BURGER.
It is essentially a mince sandwich at it's core. Yet people say these are epic creations and yet shun corned beef sammidges? Hypocrisy!
Special mention goes to the Panini, the toastie that is drier, flatter, smaller and less filling than a "proper" toastie but commands £1.50 extra.
UNDERRATED: LEFTOVER STOVIEWICHES.
This is more a central Scottish deal; most people are aware of stovies (rumbledethumps, etc), where you use up all your leftover veg and meat with mashed tatties, but stoviewiches is taking two bits of toast, getting all your leftovers, mashing it up in mashed potato (sausage stew stovies and steak mince stovies are epic) and frying up "stovie patties". Slam between the toast, consume.
Efficient, flexible, WASTELESS.
OVERRATED AND UNDERRATED: PRAWN COCKTAIL FLAVOURED THINGS? -
Re: Food and Drink: In That Category These Are Nominated - Overrated and Underrated!
OVER: Walkers prawn cocktail. Walkers crisps is overrated and the prawn cocktail isn't more than okay.
UNDER: Supermarket prawn shells. Perhaps not as tasty as skips but given their price they're certaintly competitve.
OVER and UNDER of Mainstream lagers (carling, carslberg, fosters export, grolsh... etc) -
Re: Food and Drink: In That Category These Are Nominated - Overrated and Underrated!
OVERRATED: FOSTERS.
im going to throw this out there; I like Fosters. It's a good "default" lager; light enough to be refreshing without being "Carlsbergy" - IE water. But jeeeesus. It's like the draught "staple" everywhere as of late. First "a pint please" would default to Tennents, then Carling, now it seems Fosters is the standard default...
UNDERRATED: COORS LIGHT.
I don't usually rate US lagers, and hardly anyone else does either; but Coors offers a lot of bang for buck; 1.3 units a bottle at less than 100 cals a bottle is pretty spectacular for a beer that doesn't taste of tapwater (considering, say, Corona is weaker but 149 cals per 330ml).
I like being tipsy, but I also like not drinking all my daily allowance of cals. SAVE THAT F'R THE KEBAB LATER!! :P
OVER AND UNDER OF... DOUGHNUTS? -
Re: Food and Drink: In That Category These Are Nominated - Overrated and Underrated!
OVER: Now, I betcha all expecting me to say Krispy Kreme right? But no! I do think they set the way for doughnut variety, and for that, need to be commended. Millionnaires Shortcake Flavour? Strawberries and Cream? I used to only think of jam and custard. Which brings me to my overrated doughtnut choice; CUSTARD FILLED. Now, I'm a custard fan, love it with cakes, crumbles etc, but in a doughnut, it just doesn't work. It just tastes...neutral. Like I should be getting this lovely custard taste and a sugar sweet dough, but instead I'm getting one bland merged flavor. At least Apple filled you can stil taste and appreciate each component!
UNDER: MINI JAM DOUGHNUT BITES. Now I was going to go for the glazed ring doughnut, or the tiny cinnamon ones, but I think both may actually have a pretty big rep. These, on the other hand, whilst being delicious and bitesize, are rarely spoken about. They're perfect for parties, for kids, for munching, for just about anything. And unlike the 'fun sized' chocolate bars, you're not left wanting the real sized thing, it's all about the bitesize jammy goodness!
OVER AND UNDER OF COOKIE VARIETIES? -
Re: Food and Drink: In That Category These Are Nominated - Overrated and Underrated!
OVERRATED: OATMEAL RAISIN.
A classic it may be, but how spectacularly unspectacular. The Choc chip is more "default", sure, but the oat raisin is always touted "healthier alternative"; in reality it is negligible in terms of fat and sugar. The oatmeal detracts from the soft pliability of the cookie and the raisins add a chore-like pick-and chew element where a chocolate chip will melt with the cookie's soft dissolve. Overall, both elements defeat the purpose, to me, of a big, soft cookie.
UNDERRATED: BANOFFEE.
I take Millies as an example. The malty sweetness of the cookie is enhanced by the potent, developing creamy, almost custardy banana, punctuated by a pocket of just-soft-enough-to-melt-but-always-the-last-bit-on-the-palate toffee dark sugar sweetness. In my eyes it creates a far more lingering, long-lasting resonance of flavour that even banoffee pudding can match due to the salty edge of the cookie.
Over and under of THINGS ON YOUR ROAST DINNER PLATE? -
Re: Food and Drink: In That Category These Are Nominated - Overrated and Underrated!
OVER: The meat. Can often be dry, sorry Mum. And I just end up covering it in gravy or something. Or with condiment. And I usually leave best til last, but with a Roast this'll never be the meat. It comes like 2nd, 3rd at best.
UNDER: Stuffing. Yeah roasties are grand, yeah I love a yorkshire. But I'd kick them both out of bed for a little loving with the stuffing.
over and under of bags of SWEETS (not chocolate, sweets) -
Re: Food and Drink: In That Category These Are Nominated - Overrated and Underrated!
OVER: Haribo. I don't see what void they fill now that I'm not 11.
UNDER: Mints. There's something very pleasurable about sucking on mint imperials throughout the day, almost relaxation. Every desk should have some mints on standby. Also sugarfree is a bonus.
OVER and UNDER of CONTINENTAL LAGERS? -
Re: Food and Drink: In That Category These Are Nominated - Overrated and Underrated!
OVERRATED: CORONA WITH A LIME WEDGE.
It's what the boring person chooses when trying to be "fancy". Yeah, way to think outside the box by choosing the typical "barbecue" lager.
UNDERRATED: BRAHMA.
With the drinkability of lighter lagers, all the strength, but a tint of fruity almost San Miguelage to it, Brahma also has DEM SEXAY BOTTLEZ.
OVERRATED AND UNDERRATED "-MAYO" SANDWICH FILLERS? -
Re: Food and Drink: In That Category These Are Nominated - Overrated and Underrated!
Over: EGG MAYO. I don't get the hype, you wouldn't have a fried egg with mayo, or scrambled with mayo squirted all over it, so why in a sandwich? And why all the excitement? It's just egg and mayo. Chill out!
Under: TUNA MAYO. I don't get the negative rep, done right with the right quantities/ratios it's really nice, and, dare I say it, MOIST! But tuna welcomes the addition of mayo, complimenting each other delightfully! It can be good guys, give it a chance!
