Re: FOOD AND DRINK: The GREATER of Two Evils!
Probably smoking a cigarette and it ruining the taste, because after years of growing uo with my mum smoking, it doesn't bother me so much. Came in handly in all those cafes in Amsterdam where smoking inside is OK I tell you! People smoking at like 10am with a breakfast crepe, crazy! And I'm not talking tobacco...
However, when you have a cigarette and then eat something, the taste is totally ruined, your favourite treat becomes just a tar-y blend. Or worse still, smoking WHILST eating, because then you can't savour and appreciate your treat, due to concentrating on two things, nor can you taste the flavours properly. EVIL.
EVILS:
Going to a restaurant for an occasion and having to wait AGES as someone is late so you cant order yet
OR
Going to a restaurant you haven't been to before to find its not as great as you expected -
Re: FOOD AND DRINK: The GREATER of Two Evils!
The former is worse, particularly when one **** holds up the meal for a large group of people but due to the stiff upper lip everyone agrees to politely wait even though an anon. vote would reveal 100% support to order ASAP.
GREATER EVIL:
The mess from eating spare ribs in sauce
OR
The mess from eating a oily fatty cheap pizza takeaway -
Re: FOOD AND DRINK: The GREATER of Two Evils!
Spare ribs mess is not evil, it is necessitous, an EXPERIENCE. If I were given tidy ribs, I'd be insulted. WHERE IS MY STICKY GLAZE? WHERE IS MY FLAVOUR? Whereas, oil/fat is hardly "lick of the fingers" material. And takeaway pizza is better when it's not cheap.
greater evil: Weetabix without any sweet addition
or
Sweet toppings on a savoury pizza -
Re: FOOD AND DRINK: The GREATER of Two Evils!
Steak juice is sexy, pea juice is the green flood of phlegm!
What is worse:
When someone moans profusely they've "pigged out" after eating half a Mcflurry...
Or
When someone yaps on about being healthy ordering their battered chicken cheese bacon mayo chipptle fast food salad, with extra cheese, extra mayo? -
Re: FOOD AND DRINK: The GREATER of Two Evils!
The first annoys me more. It's like they're SEEKING everyone to notice how little they ate. OH, LOOK AT ME, stopping at half a Mcflurry, look at the rest of you GIANT BEASTS finishing it. And usually they're the thin ones. Whereas I guess ordering a battered chicken cheese bacon mayo chipptle fast food salad with extra cheese and extra mayo is healthy, in that..it contains, pretty much something of every food group.

which is more evil: Burnt garlic in a dish or burnt crusts on a pizza -
Re: FOOD AND DRINK: The GREATER of Two Evils!
I actually like singed pizza crust, especially on a proper pizza (thin crusted saltdough). But that said, I'm a Scot who grew up on curly hair inducing PLAIN LOAF CRUSTS... The most burnt carb material on the planet. Burnt garlic is rankadank though and unavoidable strewn throughout a sauce etc!
What is the greater evil:
Melted-then-reformed chocolate,
Or
Cooled-then-reheated steak? -
Re: FOOD AND DRINK: The GREATER of Two Evils!
The latter, because some chocolate is actually pretty good reformed. Once had a Dairy Milk that was clearly in the closest as an Aero, melted and BOOM; pure delight. Granted, some others arent so great for this (former-easter egg lumps of chocolate tragedies the world over are undeniable proof of this).
EVILS:
Walking all the way to the supermarket for one thing and them being sold out
OR
Buying too much at the supermarket forgetting you have to then walk home with it -
Re: FOOD AND DRINK: The GREATER of Two Evils!
The latter, I used to live 35 mins walk from the nearest large supermarket so buying too much was always a laborious affair, particularly with females not wanting to 'muck in'!!!

GREATER EVIL:
Spotting someone you know BUT DON'T WANT TO MEET IN THE SUPERMARKET
OR
Spotting someone you know BUT DON'T WANT TO MEET in the same restaurant -
Spotting them in a restaurant is worse because you have to stay there the duration. A supermarket you can head out, go elsewhere, hide behind the tower of beans!
Which is worse: giving someone your food out of generosity but then they don't even finish it
Or
Been given food by someone else u really don't want but they're so persistent and u don't wanna be rude by not eating it
This was posted from The Student Room's iPhone/iPad App -
Re: FOOD AND DRINK: The GREATER of Two Evils!
Poor quality chips are worse, as I've encountered them more. I mean, a saveloy tends to just be quite consistent in it's taste wherever u get one, in my experience anyway.I'm not sure what actually goes into one, probably all poor quality meat anyway. But that's why it tastes gooood.
which is worse: picking a chocolate from a chocolate box, expecting soft caramel and it's actually hard chewy caramel
or
getting to the chocolate box and your favourite is gone -
Re: FOOD AND DRINK: The GREATER of Two Evils!
Too much bread, though the pitta is good, I can do without it as I like the meat and salad more than the pitta. Plus if you go for a cheap kebab the pitta can be bad so too little is beneficial! But too much bread smothers the taste and it's like hide and go seek with your filling; I definitely PAID for a filling, maybe it's fallen out...
Evils:
Really crispy borderline overdone/burnt pizza
Or
Really crispy borderline overdone/burnt chips -
Re: FOOD AND DRINK: The GREATER of Two Evils!
I like a burnt chip every now an then, but burnt pizza, not the one. Neither are THAT evil though, kinda guilty, twisted pleasure in them. But yeah, no matter how you burn a chip, they always seem to be reasonably fluffy inside.
Which is worse: Trying and failing to make pancakes
or
trying and failing to make an omelette -
Re: FOOD AND DRINK: The GREATER of Two Evils!
Making proper brownies to me is like a dark art for non-relative payoff; simple errors with measurement, cooking time, chocolate choice etc can devastate a brownie too, which I find makes it too much hassle than it's worth. But cookies, a moron could bake, so the error would purely be human negligence /forgetfulness, meaning cookie burning is worse!!
what is a greater evil:
A pie with poor pastry,
Or
A pie with poor filling?
