I checked AQA, Edexcel, WJEC and both OCRs and none fit that - so I'm assuming it was untrue.

Either way, one edexcel one was 72/75 for an A* and one OCR was 70/72 for an A* which is still ridiculous
cie? but it does sound exaggerated.

sometimes the maths boards just 'take the mick' - just make the exams harder FFS. I think FP1 is the worst example, if i dont get 100, the next mark is robably like 95/7 or something ridiculous

I don't think CIE have modules

Yeah AQA have gone some way to improve this - now most exams have raw mark percentages matching up with UMS. I think they have gone a little overboard with January's FP2

    Ah I see, thanks
I've heard similar stories about ocr fp2/3 :s

Anyone going to the Durham open day on saturday? Looked at train tickets today and it was £72 for a return from liverpool to Durham  could probably get to london and back a few times for that kind of money! So looks like I'm going to have to beg a lift from someone xD

Edit: Negged for that, what did I say?
I'm going in September because this one was full, but it's going to cost me a lot of money too I'm going to Sheffield next week as well, I'll have spent all the money I've saved for uni on travel to open days at this rate!

yes but Fp1 is so much fun :ahee: I remember when I first found the 3 roots of unity and realised they were all 1 from the origin and I was like :zomg: (in my defence, this was quite a while back )

I scared myself in Chemistry earlier. We were doing the boring molar/ mass/ yeild calcs and I unconsciously remembered every relative molecular mass of every element in the excerise without thinking about it :lolwut: I didn't even realise I didn't look them up until I'd finished. I sat there in silence for a few minutes processing what happened, brains are so weird. I wish my memory was consistently eidetic..
This is the kind of experience I have in languages :') I have eureka moments and I accidentally memorise words It's great! Brains are weird but ever so wonderful :awesome:

This thread used to be relatively well written and polite
Too many mathematicians around I kid! Exam and results stress, I expect.

Etoile! Are you definitely applying to Cambridge? Not turned to the dark side? I thought the stress would go after my exams....how wrong I was.

I'm for Cambridge until results day, at which point I turn German for two weeks, and then after that I will look at my results and see how good my UMS was. Or my grades, for that matter. I absolutely loved Emma yesterday!

Ooh, which one? Once I stayed at the Cambridge Motel, I don't remember why. I think my parents had a fight and my mum left with us. To my seven year or so old mind it was nice Pssst the Arundel House hotel is near my old house and that looks REALLY nice :L

Didn't get a choice of college, my school chose xD

Although after staying over at Oriel in Oxford last night I've got a lot better idea of what I'm looking for in college at Cambridge, definitely want one close to the centre rather than one of the outliers

Ready for the negs for the O word xD

Was the Oxford open day also organised by your school?

I see, at our school we go to either one, not both, which I don't mind to be honest

It's a holiday inn in the middle of nowhere (Therefore cheap). You know the area so well

I am, yes. I certainly will, I can't wait. :hugs:

I haven't been up much since April though (when incidentally we stayed in a holiday inn because it was after we'd got rid of the house and we'd just come back for my grandmother's funeral, if it's in the middle of a new estate on the edge of Cambridge then I've been there too ), for example we went into town yesterday and saw they've closed down HMV and Octopus has changed name and things like that. I'd be lost in Manchester though, never been there before
    :ahee:
