Yes, that sums it up well. I'm slightly lost in the discussion on this thread! I'm yet to read any Hardy, unless you count the negligible attention paid to The Man He Killed as part of the AQA Anthology. And Drummer Hodge, because of The History Boys! And Little Gidding is unfortunately towards the end of Four Quartets so Ralph Fiennes has yet to get around to reading it on my audio CD.

Other places I'm considering besides Oxford and Cambridge are Durham, UCL, KCL, LSE, Bristol, Warwick, and Nottingham. The only problem is that I'm struggling to decide whether or not I need more of an insurance choice - unfortunately, the majority, if not all, of the 'desirable' law schools are AAA. There seems to be a gulf in reputation between those and the AAB unis, so I need to decide whether to go 'all out' at the risk of getting no offers (or missing them come August), or alternatively play it smart and put down a lower offer law school so that I have something to fall back on. :s

Same! We've been told that we won't be able to finish the syllabus in Biology and will have to self-teach over Easter, which sucks. I have yes I am committed to Oxford, of course, but I like your thread too Do you know which of the two you prefer btw?

Good choices Yeah, that's something I'm worried about to. The Unis that are AAB and I would consider () tend to be massively oversubscribed cos everyone goes for them, and I think it might be tactically better to go for a less popular AAA especially iif I prefer it. I'm confident on getting AAA afterall. I'm thinking Durham and York and possibly Bristol, Exeter, Warwick, Leeds & Sussex.

No, I don't I did consider it for ages actually and was very torn - but I prefer the Oxford course, city & geographical location.

Especially with med allowing me only 4 choices. Although, if I were to somehow become brilliant, get guts, and apply - it'd be Oxford, hands down

I completely refuse to believe that Lily. You are incredibly smart - you are taking an insane number of A levels, you have very erudite conversations () - and you are committed to medicine, and would be a wonderful doctor. Obviously, Oxford medicine is insanely competitive so I do completely understand the hestiation, but don't necessarily rule it out if it is your dream. You can't get an offer if you don't apply! Pretend that you go to comprehensive of TSR () where we are your class and Minerva is your UCAS advisor. And anyway to be so fabulous at such an awful school is an achievement in itself.

I did quite a broad range at uni (I graduated last summer), so managed to get in a lot of different writers - I did one really good module in my final year on drama from 1580-1730, so I got in loads of different stuff. As cliched as it might be, I specialised in Shakespeare, including my dissertation.

What sort of literature are you into?

Gothic fiction, classical texts, and Shakespeare. I'm working on broadening it as much as possible! Also a fair bit of Irish literature, so Joyce, Wilde and Yeats, and I've seen Translations by Brian Friel. I'm a massive Ray Bradbury fan as well.

Hey I want to major in architecture. I'm an international applicant, and though for Cam the secondary school qualification of my country is not enough I'm taking AP's as well as A levels. What subjects would you recommend for A levels? I've yet to register but I'm really confused. I'm a math-science student so I'll probably take Math, physics, chem. Also, I have the option of either taking the CIE A levels or Edexcel. Which one would you recommend? Thanks in advance!

Lily, if you actually believe this then there's no hope for anyone!! Your school's average grade is nowhere near your grades and if anyone's good enough to get in then it's you.
