Re: OCR Business Studies - F291 - 14th May 2012To hit L4 you not only need to make your answer case-specific, but you also must offer a judgement near the end of the question about what option/route/choice the business should go down, which one is the best, which one is the worst, which one is the most likely to occur, why, etc(Original post by EstebanK0)
I really really need some advice for tackling this paper. What are your techniques for answering the evaluation questions?
Hope that helps somewhat!

Re: OCR Business Studies - F291 - 14th May 2012How comes?(Original post by EstebanK0)
Man, I'm really scared of this exam :/ -
Re: OCR Business Studies - F291 - 14th May 2012I know the content but when it comes to long essay questions, I never get a good amount of marks (around 9/18).(Original post by oli_042)
How comes?
I just don't know how to construct a long essay based question. -
Re: OCR Business Studies - F291 - 14th May 2012I'm exactly the same. I always think I've done ok, and end up getting half marks for the essays :| anyone know any good tips for writing up these essays?(Original post by EstebanK0)

Re: OCR Business Studies - F291 - 14th May 2012Following topics came up in January 2012:(Original post by blue_)
Does anyone know what came up in Jan 2012?
- Market Research
- Sampling
- Primary Data
- Supply & Demand
- Franchises
- Ethical Issues
- Evaluate other factors which will make McDonald's successful.
Ensure to always, always make your answers CASE-SPECIFIC in order to hit Level 3, if you get Level 3 throughout the paper, you can easily get an A grade. To hit Level 3 marks, you need to discuss how something will impact or benefit the business, or what it will mean for the business. For example, "Starbucks would benefit from acting ethically as they operate in a monopolistic market with many other firms such as Costa Coffee and EAT, Starbucks would benefit as they could use the fact they act ethically as a marketing promotion as well as the fact that many customers may be interested in where exactly their coffee is sourced from, thus, meaning Starbucks are likely to gain higher demand, and consequently higher revenue and profit from the increased market share they are taking away from opposition who may not be acting as ethically as Starbucks are." To hit Level 4 marks, you have to not only make your answer case-specific, but you also must offer a judgement near the end of the question about what option/route/choice the business should go down, which one is the best, which one is the worst, which one is the most likely to occur, why, etc. Hope that helps somewhat, I got a B in the exam last summer, however am re-taking it again to try and boost that up to an A(Original post by sophinar)

You're probably getting half marks because you're hitting Level 2, you know all the content, but only theoretically, you need to apply it to the business and the case-study in order to get those higher levels/marks

Re: OCR Business Studies - F291 - 14th May 2012
Thank you!! that was really helpful
good luck in the exam, I'm sure you'll get an A by the looks of it. I did that starbucks practice paper but got a D as none of my answers were at a level 3. it's so annoying! and some of the questions are so vague and broad that I never seem to hit the right topics when I answer them. 'how does ___ impact the business success" seems to be a popular one

Re: OCR Business Studies - F291 - 14th May 2012No problem and ah thank you, it would be good to get an A because it puts less pressure on the big F297 paper I have in June :/ Since we're only a week away now try and do as many past papers as you can, to try and strengthen your exam technique(Original post by sophinar)

Re: OCR Business Studies - F291 - 14th May 2012
Im taking this, its the most annoying thing ever, because i know the stuff inside out ( like for F292 were doing practice theory questions and i consistantly high marks like 16-18) but I can just never seen to apply it and evaluate it.
Also, for you guys that already got a high mark, how many points would you be making for the last question? liek the 18 mark ones about stakeholders and success ect?
Cos i usually aim for like 5 different reasons but Im starting to think this is wayyy too much
