One thing we will do at the start of this session is have a welcome/introduction thread. I've asked Aaran and he's happy to start one. I've always thought of the MHoC as a community and it would be nice if newcomers and stalwarts alike had a place where they could introduce themselves to everyone else and find out a bit more about each-other. It will be entirely optional as I know that not everyone is comfortable giving away information online, but I think it's a nice thing to have and helps make the forum more welcoming.

    Sounds like a great idea.

I think that if we're going to be improving the guide we might as well go the whole hog and make it better. I think the style of the best Bills has improved in my time here (and thus we can improve the guide to that standard), but recently the general quality has tailed off. I et out a list of changes in my response to davidmarsh01, I don't think there's anything too controversial in there?

EDIT: Ah, you replied whilst I was typing this. In that case, fantastic! I'm more than happy to help with any re-writing.

EDIT2: Whilst I appreciate that the Libertarian Bills haven't been perfect, I'd like to think we do a decent job with style and we'll endeavour to keep improving the style.
    Ah, missed your edits.

I'll let you know when I'm rewriting it. :yy:

I suspect it will be way down the pecking order, but what do you think of requesting for a change to when applicants are accepted to parties? There's no message or notification that you've been accepted, and it currently relies on the leader to send a pm. It would be so much smoother if leaders could specify an automated notification for accepted members...

I'm free for the next two weeks so anytime after 12pm is good for me.

Brilliant idea! I've suggested it in the Dev forum, and I'll mention it when I meet with the Admins later this month.

This. In the past people have refused to contribute because of who the editor was, I think if we get someone everyone agrees on and is happy with that's half the battle.

Thanks for that url link Birchington very impressed by our own partys history over the last few MHOC governments
It took me ages to do but definitely worth it! I have now fully completed it, except for the fourth parliament as no-one published an MP list. Cheers for the compliment anyway!

Some MP lists for the first Parliament:

http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=100304 (Not every list there, but about four parties from what I can see).

    Second Parliament:

http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/show...&page=3&page=3 (post 51 is the best resource there).

    Third Parliament:

    http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=290468

I haven't found any reference to the fourth Parliament list, but that should help to get you started on expanding the list.

Ah you're already included it. Must learn to check the other pages

I'm currently in the process of making a Lib Dem newspaper and I'm definitely up for expanding this HOC-wide. We could have a collective editorial team made up of each party to avoid accusations of bias.

If there's a HoC newspaper I'll call dibs on the centrefold. It'll give me a chance to dust off my speedos.

I'd gladly contribute to a MHoC newsletter from some sort of minor editorial position. Incidentally, I'd be perfectly happy with Birchington being the editor - I'd trust him to be non-partisan in his role as editor, and a strong editorial team could help with any remaining issues.

Excuse my ignorance, but what was this newsletter? Was it just a summary of what was happening in the MHoC? Who was it sent to?

There was a newsletter/newspaper; I think Ham and Cheese was the initial brainchild behind the idea - It ran monthly and had

My idea would be a bit about the current bills and motions weve been debating plus any personnel changes i.e. new members of the Cabinet or new MPs etc.

Perhaps a small contribution from each party possibly on a rotation - with an interview as with someone. You could make it fortnightly?

We could have columns from all party leaders, bills explained in brief and interviews with MPs. Just some more ideas.

As a new member to TSR today, I've found it quite difficult to get my head around this Parliament concept here. I've found it complicated to understand what's going on here. So I agree that a Welcome thread would be good in addition to an update FAQs sticky. Also, someone mentioned about updating the Wiki pages - that would also help newcomers.

Once I'm established in the TSR Parliament, I'm happy to join the Editoral Team for a newspaper/newsletter. I'm good at writing content & publishing etc...

I'd also like to put into the mix that joining a political party today has been difficult. I've submitted my request to the TSR Labour Party and not had any response to my PMs or I've not got put into the party I wish to support. Hopefully this process can be sped up just a little as I'm ready to join the Labour Socialist style discussion.

Keep up the good work Mr Speaker and fellow colleagues. This looks like a really fun and vibrant community/role play to be part of.
