Re: Speakership and House Review: 14th ParliamentThere's a slight bug with usergroups atm - I had the same problem getting in to Labour and so did Ironist. I'll let david know and he can doublecheck and then pass the issue on to an admin if necessary.(Original post by RoryS)
I'd also like to put into the mix that joining a political party today has been difficult. I've submitted my request to the TSR Labour Party and not had any response to my PMs or I've not got put into the party I wish to support. Hopefully this process can be sped up just a little as I'm ready to join the Labour Socialist style discussion.

Re: Speakership and House Review: 14th ParliamentHi and welcome to the forum!(Original post by RoryS)
As a new member to TSR today, I've found it quite difficult to get my head around this Parliament concept here. I've found it complicated to understand what's going on here. So I agree that a Welcome thread would be good in addition to an update FAQs sticky. Also, someone mentioned about updating the Wiki pages - that would also help newcomers.
Once I'm established in the TSR Parliament, I'm happy to join the Editoral Team for a newspaper/newsletter. I'm good at writing content & publishing etc...

Keep up the good work Mr Speaker and fellow colleagues. This looks like a really fun and vibrant community/role play to be part of.
Out of interest, did you find the Wiki links easy to find? I ask because some people have reported them as being less accessible than stickied threads and it would be useful to get a newcomers perspective.
I'll certainly take your comments on board and if there's anything missing from our FAQ's, I'll try to ensure it is included.
As Tophat says, there are occasionally usergroup problems, but he appears to be on the case. If there are still problems tomorrow, drop me a PM and I'll look into it. -

Re: Speakership and House Review: 14th ParliamentOhh okay thanks for letting me know Tophat. I've PM'ed a few people already - I hope the issue gets resolved. If not, I'll let david know.
EDIT (reply to Metrobeans): Thanks for your response. I did find the Wikis easy to find. Thanks for following it up, if I'm not in a group tomorrow, I'll let you know.Last edited by RoryS; 02-04-2012 at 20:47. -

Re: Speakership and House Review: 14th ParliamentWe basically need two main editors - design and content. I'm happy to volunteer to design the newpaper as that's a strength. A content editor would be responsible for collating stories, articles and designing interviews. These can then be delegated to a team of writers.(Original post by RoryS)

Could you possible create a 'HOC Newspaper' thread? I'm really keen to get the ball rolling and have a first edition out after parliament starts, and have a central place for people to submit ideas. What do you reckon?(Original post by Metrobeans)

Re: Speakership and House Review: 14th ParliamentAs it will feature contributions from all over the House, it'll be hard to avoid politicising some features. If the editorial team sign a commitment to impartiality, they can be removed if this is breached.(Original post by cambo211)
Surely anyone involved in the running of the newspaper should have to give up any political affiliation and remain impartial

Re: Speakership and House Review: 14th ParliamentIt wasn't a serious suggestion.(Original post by Birchington)

Re: Speakership and House Review: 14th ParliamentIt was a good idea - it would be great to safeguard the impartiality of any HOC-wide newspaper.(Original post by cambo211)

Re: Speakership and House Review: 14th ParliamentI suggest using online publishing like Issuu

Re: Speakership and House Review: 14th ParliamentI don't think there has to be impartiality. As long as those that are editing it and running the show are trusted by the house. One reason it failed last time is not because of a lack of impartiality but because the person running it (at one point anyway) was not trusted to be unbiased.(Original post by Birchington)

Re: Speakership and House Review: 14th ParliamentIt's not essential but the editors do have to be trusted.(Original post by thunder_chunky)

Yeah I've seen them. Apologies for the delay, I've been a little tied up today. I'll get round to them as soon as possible. Please see my PMs thunder_chunky. -
Re: Speakership and House Review: 14th ParliamentIt was a bit like the Daily Mirror IRL(Original post by thunder_chunky)

Re: Speakership and House Review: 14th ParliamentYour chart has an error. AAfc was also UKIP's MP in the 14th Parliament as well as the 13th.(Original post by Birchington)
We could have columns from all party leaders, bills explained in brief and interviews with MPs. Just some more ideas.
