IGCSE Revision

My IGCSE's are coming up in like a month, and I am seriously stressing out. I have such a huge pressure on me to do well, it is though everyone just expects me to get the best, there is no other option.

I have the dedication to work and in this 2 week holiday have a timetable to work about 6 hours everyday, but I am having problems revising, especially in the sciences.

I began by making notes but they take me far too long to do and I would never get them finished. I also am basically just writing out the book again because I feel if I miss anything then I am not learning everything I need to know.

I am panicking so much and I really don't know how I should go about revising.
Can someone please advise me as to how I should be revising?

(If it helps lots of my IGCSEs are Cambridge)

I'm doing IGCSES too..

Like you I'm panicking. THEY'RE TOO EARLY!

What do you need help with?

Let's go through it step by step.

Hopefully it'll help both of us.

if your doing igcse edexel...then do all the past papers from 2001 to recently for maths, chemistry, biology and physics and you will get an A* in every single one of those i promise you. no need to make notes just read notes version of textbook. Trust me they seem much harder then they actually are and dont stress too much over them

Figure out a plan.. easier said than done though
Omg. I'm doing IGCSE's too, I agree 100% the fact its to early, but online revision is helping aloooot more than books, don't take notes! READ, then close the book, then write what you remember. Draw diagrams, spiderwebs. Make it, creative so you don't fall asleep, or get bored half way

A great way to revise anything quickly is doing past paper questions and using the mark schemes to find out the right answers. This means that you will revise all the common questions given but also know the exact answers that the examiner wants!
You do need to do as many of these as possible though!

I am stressing too though!!

Good Luck everyone!

Don't know how useful these will be, but here are some IGCSE notes I made from last year:

Biology (CIE): http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8918634/Biology.docx

Physics (CIE), made by the school: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8918634/General%20Notes.docx

Chemistry (Edexcel): http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8918634/Chemistry.docx

History (Edexcel): http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8918634/Exam%20Technique.docx
International Relations: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8918634/International%20Relations.docx
Development of Dictatorship in Germany: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8918634/Germany.docx
World War One: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8918634/WWI.docx
Changes in Medicine: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8918634/Medicine.docx

These are all quite long, so you will definitely want to select bits you want/parts of the syllabus you are unsure of rather than printing it all of. Biology for example consists of 170 ish pages, and is effectively a textbook. However, unlike in most textbooks, information is hopefully laid out generally nicely, and obviously you can edit anything. Beware also of the spelling or formatting mistakes in there, and there might be the occasional piece of incorrect information, though it will be obvious if it is wrong.

They will also often go into far more detail than is required, but the point is that it shouldn't be too hard for you to condense these or simply use bits relating to parts of the syllabus you are unsure of.

Chemistry is the best.

Good luck!

I know what you mean, I'm doing Cambrigde IGCSEs as well, and they're only about a month away... which still hasn't really registered for me apparently, as I'm doing absolutely nothing. I should really set up some sort of plan :s-smilie:

I'm rather relaxed about it though... while I am rather confident about my abilities/have been doing well in mocks, a little revision would never hurt...
