Is anyone considering to attend the ukcat kaplan course? Apparently it improved some people's scores by over 150

....just to let you know..me and my cousin went on the course...and well, we didn't do too well...

Luckily I applied to all non-ukcat schools so it didn't directly affect me...but the course was no help to me if I am completely honest. And I let my friend borrow the kaplan book, and he didn't too well.

Just to give an alternative review of this, I too went on the Kaplan course and I was quite pleased with the outcome. I am a first time applicant, so can't say if it would've improved my score, but it came out to 745 avg

Well done on your score! Unfortunately, I didn't find the course too useful. But I ended up choosing all the 4 non-ukcat dental schools anyways so it didn't really make a difference to my application  Where did you apply? And have you firmed a place?

Me trying to get some dental lab work shadowing:

Me: "Hi, I'm applying for Dentistry this year and am looking for get some work experience in different areas of Dentistry. I was wondering if it's possible for me to spend 2-3 days observing the dental technician in your laboratory."

Lady: "Let me just check."

**on hold for a few minutes**

Lady: "We're not interested, sorry."

Yay, found a potential dental lab. They told me to ring back tomorrow and said they have allowed students to shadow in the past. The only downside is that I have to travel 60 minutes on the bus to get there but that's not a major problem.

yeah my letter said that application was unsuccessful because, they did not see enough evidence of manual dexterity and leadership skills, but I did not get a score out of 20 like someone else on this forum

Thanks! Good luck to you. I've had to ring appoximately 25 labs before actually getting a positive lead. This one is in the next town. What type of experience have you done already?

I have a few weeks in general, ortho and a dental hospital. I'm currently trying to organise dental lab, private practice and oral and maxfax surgery.
