Ridley Scott's Prometheus: How ***ing cool?!

Whether you think cinema died with Hitchcock or only got good once Michael Bay started blowing up helicopters, this is the place where moving pictures are discussed.

    The actors tell the story, in an environment created by set designers or a special effects team. The director simply marshals everybody into their correct position and provides the editors and producer with a plethora of shots to choose from.

    I didn't suggest most directors write their movies. I am implying that for it to be considered Scott's Prometheus, as the title suggests it ought to be, Scott should have at the very least co-wrote it.
    No.

    Anyone booked tickets? It's out next week. No reviews around yet.
    I'm booked for the Monday at Giant Screen in Birmingham. woo!

    There are new clips on Youtube, but no point spoiling the spectacle imo.

    Next week? I thought there was over 2 weeks still to go?

    Yeah, I'm staying away from any more info. Might just skim reviews.

    It's out on 1 June. My bad. I'm booked for the 4th.
    I heard Giant Screen is as good as IMAX (but no IMAX scenes) so I'm glad to be seeing it there rather than a regular cinema. I wish I had an IMAX nearby though.

    How come we are getting it a week ahead of the Americans? The Avengers was the same. In fact, quite a few big movies have been out here first. It used to be the other way round, always.

    I am so so so so psyched for this. It'd better be epic or I might cry. I have to wait a week til after its released to go and see it though, cause I said to my friend back home that we'd go and see it together... but at the same time

    I've never seen a film at an IMAX unfortunately, so don't know what I'm missing.

    No idea, it might be to build up the US domestic release if it's being hyped worldwide. But hey, I'm not complaining. :yeah:

    It's the only way to watch a blockbuster movie. The screen is huge (the BFI one is 65ft high) and immerses you. The sound blows away a normal cinema too. I've watched TDK, Avatar and several others at IMAX and it's brilliant. Screen size + sound = big win! You can't recreate that at home. IMAX 2D > 3D. It's the way forward.

    Anyone gonna watch Prometheus?
    Hey guys;

    Well, I was just wondering, but, how many people are gonna be watching prometheus when it is released (this coming Friday). I am going with my friends to see MIB3 this Wednesday and then Prometheus the following Wednesday and can't wait.

    I really wanna see this, love the alien series.

    Looks class, though it going to be hard watching Fassbender without having flashbacks of Shame.

    Since silent movies were the first movies, are you saying that 3D is an innovation? Because I agree. Its awesome.

    Not exactly what I meant, alright, new example;

    3D...The biggest crime against movies since, er... well, biggest crime ever...

    EDIT:
    And I am pretty sure this thread here is evident enough why...

    Filmed in Real3D rather than being a transfer is good enough for me.

    2012 is shaing up to be one of my favourite years for film - Prometheus (looks amazing so far), The Avengers, The DarK Knight Rises, Skyfall, The Hobbit, The Amazing Spider Man (after seeing the trailer, didn't originally care for it but it actually looks promising), The Watch (AKA Neighbourhood Watch) all packed into one year

    Unnecessary films for the year - Total Recall remake (why Colin Farrell? why so soon? Ok so the original was camp but it was still great) and Ice Age 4 (seriously, stop with these films now, this series can only go only for so long, this isn't a joke anymore)

    I did the stupid thing of reading Peter Bradshaw's review on The Guardian, and now know more than I wanted to about the plot :facepalm: Am looking forward to this: great director and great cast, and the visuals look amazing.
