I'm not sure if this is in the right section but I guess it's relevant to this part of the forums in some ways. Anyway, it is perhaps the most cowardly thing to do, to neg-rep someone without giving a good reason for it.

Countless times I've been negged anonymously by spineless cowards who were either too lazy or too scared to confront me. Because of this, I'm calling for new procedures to be implemented into the negging system.

    1. Firstly, upon negging a fellow user, there has to be an option for stating a reason which should in turn, be overlooked by the mods and forum admins (or whoever's job it is)
    2. Secondly, the creator of the post that was negged, must receive a notification regarding the negging, provided the mods and admins deemed the neg justifiable
    3. Thirdly, users issuing other users with unfair and unjustified neg-rep should be given a minor warning (maybe 1-2 points) so they don't repeat the same offence of unjustified neg-repping

I think if these measures were implemented, TSR would be a better and much friendlier place where intellectual debates can preside over anonymous and cowardly neg-repping; neg repping done by wimpy kids who don't have the balls to state a reason.

Who is with me?? Can we get some sort of petition going?
    I agree, in a way.

I'm one of the best posters on TSR, yet my neg rep makes me look like a troll.

    Not exactly a career choice.

Any kind of moderating to negging would be compromising free speech. But at the end of the day it does not matter it's nice to have your posts appreciated, but if you taking negging too seriously then I think you need to get a life.

I preferred the old system which invited you to post a comment though, it was nice reading them.

It's usually because they know you're right, don't like it, can't disprove it and need to take their anger out somehow.

it would be better if you said who ever pos reps you or neg reps you, their names should show and then you can contact them yourself
    This.

I negged you just to P*** you off
You have some good points but if they were put in place it would create so much hassle :/ Like people who do disagree with your opinion and you want to know why I don't care about rep.
I also think people just neg people for no reason  for example someone asked about how much I can write in an hour so I told them and I got negged :L

but your rep doesn't do anything. That's just pathetic don't you think?
Negging people? I never said I did it, I just negged the op because hes making a big fuss over ‘virtual rep’ and needs to chillax

and if your rep doesnt do anything why does it matter then if you neg someone

You spend too much time on here, you really do. Hate to pop your bubble but there's more to life than an internet forum.

Also, you've numbered your (anal and ridiculous) list, so it's just convoluted to start each point with an ordinal. Or maybe you're just superfluous like that.
I negged you for stating falsities that you made no attempt to back up. If you look at my stats, 1.95 posts per day is nowhere near as bad as some people here... As of now, I've only made 385 posts since I made this account.

You're taking it a bit too seriously, what would you have done in the old days when negs could put you back -400 (or more) points? :p:

Are you upset over neg lol?

Seriously though, I used to be one of those people that would edit their post after recieving a number of negs and demand why.

Now I just don't give a crap, because I simply don't take the repuatation system as seriously as before. Why get worked up and frustrated over an insignificant system on an online forum?

Considering that you can get negged for literally anything you say shows some people are so jobless they go round negging for fun.

There'd be a few angry emoticons thrown in for added effect.

Why do people complain about negative rep without equally attributing their arguments to positive rep? If a neg has to be justified, why doesn't a pos?

Because people want to have their cake and eat it too!

On another note as a mod I'm sure you're aware that this topic is sprung to life every few weeks or so by someone starting a thread on it. So how many times do you think people on average complain about the repuatation system?

I think no one should be able to neg rep others without providing an adequate reason first (more than just "I don't agree with your opinion"). Shame there's no feature like this atm lol.

Neither of you took the time to analyse my post or see past your ignorance which may have enabled you to suggest ways of improving the site.
We have analysed your post. We think getting so worked up over something so insignificant is stupid. It is you that is ignorant. Do away with the rep system completely I say. Then people like you can't get worked up over what thumbs up or down might mean. Sheesh.

Oh well la-dee-dah, picking insignificant holes in my posts now are we? Two can play at that game.

As you clearly don't spend half your waking hours on here (note: posts made doesn't correlate in any way to time spent browsing and repping), why do you care so much about rep? Justify that.

As it's clearly enough of a concern in your questionable life to start a thread about, I deduced you spend enough time on here to warrant concern.

I love how you presume I care about rep. No, sunshine, I really don't.

    Happy now?

TSR should get rid of the system. It creates an aura of falseness, and people withdraw and hold back on their posts in fear of being negged.
Spot on here, this site is better off without it. I try not to pay attention to neg rep but it does make you wonder what you got it for sometimes.

Most people on TSR are generally, idiots. They're the sort of people who insult ex-polytechnics and then go to universities like Sheffield thinking they're so much better for it. People on TSR are generally idiots who do not read people's points correctly, instead they find the smallest disagreement to it and neg it.

And to be very frank, alot of the sensible opinions on here are the worstly negged. I haven't seen many good points get posotive rep.

To sum this up, I hate TSR, and I only come on here to look at how people found exams.
