I have a lazy eye - my right eye turns inwards and apparently my brain found that too confusing when I was young, it learnt to tune my right eye out. Now, I don't have any stereoscopic vision; basically, I don't get a 3D effect from two eyes working together because they're not.

I'd quite like a portable gaming machine, and the choice of games has brought it down to the PS Vita and the Nintendo 3DS. Now, obviously the 3DS is cheaper () ... but I'm wondering if my lack of 3D vision is going to make it unplayable or not.

I don't care if it's not 3D. I know it won't be, I can't see 3D films either. However, will the fact that I can't see it in 3D ruin the games or will it just appear like a normal 2D game to me?

There's a button on the side with which you can turn off the 3D function, so you won't necessarily lose out on anything as a result of your eyesight.

Nintendo has made a point of ensuring games are still playable in 2D, so you should be fine

Get the PSVita. So much better!

I have a 3DS and I never use the 3D function. I suggest that you base your decision off the price and what games each system offers.

I chose the 3DS over the PSVita because I like the legend of zelda.

I actually had a Vita pre-ordered until I released there was only one game I was really excited about on the horizon. (Disgaea if you're interested)

That said, I probably will buy a Vita late next year when the library picks up a bit. Until then, 3DS all the way! Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart, Super Pokémon Rumble, Resident Evil Revelations, Tales of the Abyss.. all amazing games! Oh, and backwards compatibility with my DS games too!

Yup you can switch the 3D off totally. I'm puzzled as to why you'd bother with buying a 3DS in that case though :P Have you considered getting a Vita instead?

The only game that I could see myself buying on the Vita is Final Fantasy X, and they're releasing that again on the ps3 anyway so I'll pick that up instead.
