Wierd things you did/thought when playing Pokemon as a kid.
So I found my Pokemon Yellow cartridge the other day and I remembered some of the silly things I did ; like repeatedly trying to teach Charizard 'Fly'. : Come on, it's got wings ffs .

Likewise, in this thread, share the things you did/thought that were pretty stupid.

Trying to sneak around the characters that spoke to you when you walked in their eyeline. Turns out, they turn around.

rapidly pressing the A button repeatedly once i had thrown a pokeball, in my mind a sure fire way to ensure that the pokemon was mine!!!

When I was about 6/7 I genuinely believed this little guy :pika: was real.:teehee:
So you can imagine how devastated I was when I found out he wasn't real...

Wait, it isn't? Same for me  Everybody I knew did that!

Well, outside of the digital world I though about teaching my guinea pig to fight like a Pokemon. My still existing sense for reality kept me from opting for Earthquake or Ice Beam, but I was quite positive about Tackle

Destroying the pokemon with missingo was fun. It was interesting with the biggest waste of all time of trying to find mew under a truck next to a ship in one of the towns. Still don't know if you could get it that way but i never did

When I first got blue, (I must have been about 5/6) I couldn't figure out how to leave the house at the beginning, so I spent forever pacing around on the mat thing pressing A. I eventually gave up and asked my uncle to help he then played it right through up until pewter city and gave it back, I had no idea what I was meant to be doing, how to catch Pokemon or even what Pokemon I had because he chose everything! I eventually figured out how to leave the houses and so started a new game

    I did this aswell
my younger brother who is now playing them does it to, must be a primal, instincitive reaction to seeing a pokeball bounce on screen

I read a 'cheat' online that had some complicated instructions that involved running around Pallet Town 16 times. Of course, I completely believed this and spent loads of time trying to get it to work, so I could get unlimited Pokéballs or whatever I thought it'd do. :nothing:

I nicknamed EVERY Pokémon. Probably everyone in my class at school had a Pokémon of mind named after them. I tried to choose appropriate Pokémon for each person.

I also inevitably ended up emotionally attached to random, fairly weak Pokémon and insisted on having them in my team under any circumstances. In one of the games I had about three Pelippers that I was really fond of, so it was like a massacre any time I encountered Electric Pokémon that the Pelipper couldn't deal with.

I used to keep pressing A so I could get through the whole nurse joy spiel quickly and then clicked once too many and ended up healing them all over again ffff

Another thing that confused me was that you could you fly on a Dodrio or surf on a Taurus :|

Believe playground rumours that if you caught all 150 pokemon then you got your own gym, if you pressed such and such buttons you would always catch pokemon lol.

I remember that. I spent months trying to find glitches and tricks to get Mew without some game cheat cartridge or Japanese event. Friends said it was impossible. No trick or glitch worked.

But one day I found some glitch that involved a psyduck, two trainers and that Ghost town. It actually worked. Walked out of that ghost town and Mew appeared at like level 7. Greatest moment of my childhood. :coma:
