Much worse for the Tories, they lost about three quarters of their vote compared to Labour losing less than half of theirs. Galloway was always going to take votes off of Labour, but I'm surprised how he completely annihilated the Tory vote.
How is it worse for the Conservatives? Labour have held the seat for longer than most of us have been alive. The Conservatives will never win Bradford West because of the demographic (poor and immigrant). This is a disaster for Labour, no two ways about it.

The Green Party guy seemed the best of a bad bunch.

To be honest, I would be super pleased if a real principled anti-war socialist who cared about his constituency had won this election. Really pleased.

Galloway on the other hand is scum. He is pure vermin.
By far the best candidate was Howling Laud Hope (Monster Raving Loony Party) who unfortunately received 111 votes only. He was running on a joint ticket with Cat Mandu, his cat.

Hope made history in 1987 when, as he was elected to Ashburton Town Council, by decisive political action he forced the Party to change its statutes (which provided that any candidate serious enough to get elected would be expelled from the party).

Edit : as was pointed out, Cat Mandu has actually died 10 years ago. This of course explains to some extent Hope's dismal result

He wasn't. Cat Mandu died 10 years ago.

Can't say I'm anywhere near pleased that he won, he's a self-righteous ******** with a completely undeserved arrogance about him.

    My bad. Rep for you.

This explains the poor result in the election.

I think it's good kick in the teeth for the main parties, even though Galloway has a fairly high profile anyway, it reminds them that people's support will falter under useless, un-charismatic leaders, ill thought-out policies and endless scandals! They've certainly had it coming!

Eugh! I almost threw up when I heard this result. Galloway is a scumbag who appeals to the lowest common denominator in the pursuit of personal gain. I see he won this seat with a 10,000 majority. I'm sure that will help him silence the screams of the 10,000 Syrians murdered at the hands of his dearest ally, President Assad.

As far as I know, Tony Blair didn't go around saying that the 9/11 attacks were our fault, unlike Galloway...
He blamed 7/7 on us as well.

A protest vote and although the Labour party does not care much for places like Bradford still a surprise. George Galloway will lose next election and I expect hardly visit Bradford much in the mean time.
Bradford West has been red for four decades. I'm sure they care.

Does that include the Polish man that came here illegally with his family?

Better to have Galloway in the commons! Better to have an alternative voice too amongst all that common beige.

People calling him self righteous, at least he had the balls to stand up against the Iraq war vociferously and got kicked out of Labour as a result. I'm astonished how the general public still think that was the right action, despite being illegal and causing turmoil in the region. Hypocrites I say.

That is kind of our fault. Had we not intervened in Iraq and Afghanistan, we wouldnt have seen this many bomb plots, including those that get foiled.

Terrorism is a side effect of Empire.

And LOL at your Kony profile picture

Interesting the money grabbing toad doesn't say a bad word whilst Iranians are being shot in the streets and rounded up for mass torture simply for protesting an election results. This is the scum that this man is actually paid by the Islamic Regime to defend..

Pretty good video by an Iranian student here

He supported Saddam another fascist who was responsible amongst others for killing millions of Iranian for years. Just because a demagogue makes noises against Israel does not make him a good person. The gullibility is amazing. Wake up people.

This. I don't like Galloway but is it really that extreme to suggest the West's actions over Palestine, Iraq, supporting certain regimes etc etc arn't at fault for the anti-West sentiment?

I imagine we would have done since al Qaeda had spend a decade before the invasion of Afghanistan attacking the US. If you want to say 7/7 was our fault then surely you must admit that the invasion of Afghanistan and the casualties caused to both sides lays solely at the door of al Qaeda and the Taliban?

Attacking the US, not us. Because of the stupid NATO treaty, we had to get involved. I somehow dont believe if 9/11 had happened to us first, the US would've invaded Afghanistan.

Im not saying it was our fault as such but we certainly could've prevented it, in hindsight.

Regards to Galloway winning, its a major blow to the big three parties, especially Labour. It'll be interesting to hear what Milliband will say/do (if anything).
