How is it worse for the Conservatives? Labour have held the seat for longer than most of us have been alive. The Conservatives will never win Bradford West because of the demographic (poor and immigrant). This is a disaster for Labour, no two ways about it.

By far the best candidate was Howling Laud Hope (Monster Raving Loony Party) who unfortunately received 111 votes only. He was running on a joint ticket with Cat Mandu, his cat.

Hope made history in 1987 when, as he was elected to Ashburton Town Council, by decisive political action he forced the Party to change its statutes (which provided that any candidate serious enough to get elected would be expelled from the party).

Edit : as was pointed out, Cat Mandu has actually died 10 years ago. This of course explains to some extent Hope's dismal result

I think it's good kick in the teeth for the main parties, even though Galloway has a fairly high profile anyway, it reminds them that people's support will falter under useless, un-charismatic leaders, ill thought-out policies and endless scandals! They've certainly had it coming!

I imagine we would have done since al Qaeda had spend a decade before the invasion of Afghanistan attacking the US. If you want to say 7/7 was our fault then surely you must admit that the invasion of Afghanistan and the casualties caused to both sides lays solely at the door of al Qaeda and the Taliban?

Attacking the US, not us. Because of the stupid NATO treaty, we had to get involved. I somehow dont believe if 9/11 had happened to us first, the US would've invaded Afghanistan.

Im not saying it was our fault as such but we certainly could've prevented it, in hindsight.

Regards to Galloway winning, its a major blow to the big three parties, especially Labour. It'll be interesting to hear what Milliband will say/do (if anything).
