Seriously ur dramatising the whole situation, Bradford isnt a ghetto for crying out loud! You get good and bad in every city, just as youll find run down places in the dynamic and modern city of London, the same thing is fr Bradford. But the fact is we dont get as much funding and retail prospects to generate the economy are at an all time low, due to the stigma attatched to Bradford. Its sad really because there are alot of great things about Bradford, yet noone ever hears about them.

Its funny how some of these people hate what they are, get over it dudes no matter how far you go youll always be from Bradford LOL!
i agree there are a lot of good things about bradford, a lot of the people of it for example, are quite oright.

but its undeniable that the places in bradford (outside the main centre i mean) are so terrible (most of them). they could even put on something good, like they could ask emerge (<-- like a youth group) to go into the park and host miniture football tournaments and such... or whatever (some moron is going to say well i dont like football, but they could host other stuff aswell). something to make it so we have something to do... otherwise we will always find something wreckless to do...

im not saying its the worst place in the world, and even leeds has its bad parts and such.... but wouild it be that hard to try and put something on away from the city centre, for the intrests of the people living there and not just to try get in tourism?

    Things that need improving..

Several areas have become ghettos in which people would likely be beaten within 5 minutes of being there, there needs to be a spreading out so to speak.

City centre apartments need building to attract people to live there even if commuting out of the city (Bradford is quite good when it comes to transport).

There are many more which i will get back to once i think of solutions.

    Yeah, exactly!

Well I think there are some parts of Bradford which are quite rundown and are in need of major refurbishment. I agree that there needs to be more events and programmes put in place for the youth in order to detract them from antisocial behaviour, and actually help them use their talents towards something socially and personally constructive.

However, actually being an active member of the BDYP (Bradford Youth Development Partnership) as well as a chairmen and committee member of several youth organisations eg The Bradford young signers group, You get to learn about what actually goes into planning these events, and I'll tell you it’s not as easy as some people may think.

Before you can start to even plan any events or schemes, you have to have the funding to be able to do anything. What alot of people dont know is where that actually comes from. I myself was oblivious before I actually began volunteering. Basically there is a large pot of money allocated for these sorts of things given to Bradford council but strangely enough noone sees any of this money, well in truth only a small selected few see a fraction of it. If you try asking about it and investigating into this they seem to get a bit defensive and mysterious. I and colleagues have tried on many occasions, but trust me if you do enough digging around youll find that youth organisations in Bradford are being left in the dark about this funding and left to fend for themselves.

So the only ways left to gain funding is to apply for them through various organisations willing to give it, eg The youth oppertunity fund, greggs fund, alec Dickson fund etc. This in itself is a long and tedious process which is highly sought after by other youth groups hence competeion is very high and unlikely youll be granted them.

Your ideas are great and through talking to young people weve come up with loads of things to do in Bradford, but unfortunately its just impossible sometimes due to a lack of funding

I will do, ahh thanks its nothing its just something i do when Im free in and amongst my Alevels. I got into it during GCSEs but just continued and made amazing freinds.
Yeh thats sounds great, before being part of the commitee which organises these events I didnt actually know how these events were even planned. Its opened my eyes to the amount of hard work and dedication goes into not only organising but trying to fund these things, but to me theres nothing more rewarding. Like recently we were granted funds from the NEAT charity and that went towards BSL classes which i could attend and then fund outdoor activities for young hearing impaired children in Bradford which was great!
