Unit5/unit 4 chemistry - EDEXCEL June 2012
need advice!
I've just finished going through the book for unit 4 and unit 5, but I don't do well on past papers >
,, I went through the text book making notes+ reading, then I went through the revision guide :|...
Do I have time before the exam to sort it out
?<< wat should I do?! help !!
+ FYI our teacher goes pretty fast, so ya we have finished the syllabus -_-
How long will it take me to get 70-80% in past papers.. If anyone has experience or can help me in any way please, please do :"{ + thanks -
Re: Unit5/unit 4 chemistry - EDEXCEL June 2012Really just practising the questions in the revision guide and going through some of the papers using your notes, then going through the rest without your notes should help you a lot.(Original post by Doni)

Really practise the nasty mathematical questions in these units (eg Ka, Kp, rates, entropy) and take time to learn all the organic reactions.
I found drawing a flow chart with each functional group and labelling the reagents needed to get from one functional group to another really helped me with organic.
Also ask friends/family to test you on things. eg give them a list of definitions and ask them to test you to see if you can quote them perfectly. -

Re: Unit5/unit 4 chemistry - EDEXCEL June 2012We use them to filter things quickly and efficiently. The pressure "pulls" the solvent through the funnel quickly and also helps to dry the solid left in the funnel and there is little liquid left.(Original post by iesians)
can someone please tell me what is a buchner funnel ?! and what are its advantages ? and why is there a pressure outlet pump in a buchner flask ..?

Re: Unit5/unit 4 chemistry - EDEXCEL June 2012ok s does theor increase ? it should decrease right but in one mark scheme the pressure was increasing !!(Original post by clownfish)

Re: Unit5/unit 4 chemistry - EDEXCEL June 2012ok lemme make it clear ! shouldnt the pressure decrease in order to speed up the filtration process ? right ? BUT in one mark scheme i saw that they wrote the pressure increases THATS WHY IM CONFUSED(Original post by clownfish)

Re: Unit5/unit 4 chemistry - EDEXCEL June 2012hey demdil !! i got a B in AS !!! but i gave unit 4 this january and got an A ! im so happy !!!! im basically focussing on unit 6 now cuz its a month away from unit 5 !!! for unit 4 i would suggest do a lot of organic chemistry ! i mean A LOT !........build up mind maps writing reagant and conditions and revise it regularly ! i mean REGULARLY so by the time of the exam ull be smooth !! and for unit 6 i myself am doing alot of past papers and a lot of transition !!! cuz colours always come and are so hard !!!! also i had a question :-(Original post by demdil)
I havent started revising units 4/5/6 yet and I am freaking out!! I got A from AS but this year I found A2 very difficult!! Does anyone have any summaries, or extra questions? I need help ..
in a reflux condenser we put water in below and wter outlet above ? why ?
give me a 3 mark answer ... -

btw, i remember the reflux condenser from AS, and as far as i know when you put water from below the condenser fills with water and cools the product down. but if you put water from the up, then it would directly go out from the opening in below, so condenser wouldnt fill with water so wouldnt cool efficiently.
-
Re: Unit5/unit 4 chemistry - EDEXCEL June 2012that looks very vague , well i know the logic behind it that it has to do something with gravity, that if we put it from above it would run quickly and cooling wont be efficient , im not just getting how to put it in a perfect sentence !(Original post by demdil)
thanks

Re: Unit5/unit 4 chemistry - EDEXCEL June 2012Theres 4 if im not mistaken(Original post by Popular-reject-x)
Hey, I was wondering if you guys had any online revision resources to share?
Or even just a stash of more questions because there are only 2 Unit 5 papers >.< -

Re: Unit5/unit 4 chemistry - EDEXCEL June 2012I've already started on the old spec, got 01-04 to finish(Original post by Jukeboxing)
Yh thats the four, I havent attempted any yet. Im still going through the content on my own, just got organic synthesis left.
Then i'll start off with nuffield and old spec papers.
Aiming for A*
I'm aiming for an A* too but an A would be nice
