Re: Reasons for doing medicine?
I know it sounds really cliche but I want to help people and do something that makes a difference. There is also the additional bonus that as soon as you graduate you're basically guaranteed a job; and there are so many different pathways and opportunities in medicine, doing a degree in it does not necessarily limit you to doing one specific thing for the rest of your career. You just have to be able to get the A level grades first! :/

Re: Reasons for doing medicine?Amazing. I entirely share what you've just said, I also hope to work for the NHS some time in the future.(Original post by Caponester)
Intellectually stimulating and practically useful career that allows me to work with the general public, actively participate in research and teach all at the same time. I also get to work for the National Health Service, which is important to me.

Re: Reasons for doing medicine?lol medicine is the WORST career if you want easy money. Long hours, emotionaly and physically draining, no social life, huge debt. For what you do as a doctor, the pay is not a lot.(Original post by lukas1051)
We all know the real rea$$$on people are so 'passionate' about medicine

Re: Reasons for doing medicine? All I'm trying to say is there's a reason it's so competitive, and I'd say it's probably the same reason (to some extent) subjects like Law and Economics are so competitive too.(Original post by H.J.P)
