It's heavily dependent on the underlying genetics - yes it certainly increases the risk however a person could binge on sugar all their life and never show a single sign of glucose intolerance, yet the next could develop type II within a few years. She is ramming high amounts of sugar into her diet with no exercise or anything else. That is an express ticket to type 2 diabetes.
If she dodges that bullet, then she will most likely have other problems with her stomach and possibly her liver, not to mention being permanently lethargic with hormone problems.

Type II Diabetes= what that guy was referring to. It is an aquired resistance to insulin caused by having elevated blood glucose levels. Almost always caused by bad lifestyle choices. -

Your body is burning fat, muscle, dropping water and god knows what. Soon your weight will get so low your ribs will protude, your blood pressure will drop and eventually your heart won't be strong enough to pump the blood around your body. Then you will be dead.
Neither of those examples you listed are healthy by any means. Also, you have less knowledge about proper diet, nutrition and the anatomy of the human body than my three year old brother has about quantum mechanics. Im not saying I eat chocolate every day
I actually eat really healthy its just that every other day/three days I dont eat healthy

to be fair I do walk about alot
Im just pointing out that you dont have to restrict yourself from not eating chocolate and crips, there are some 'diet' foods that have more calories than choclate and just 'give you more energy' which in my opinion dont at allLast edited by mikestraws; 30-03-2012 at 21:41. -

700 calories is pathetic!
Perhaps before disgarding perfectly good food, think about people who barely have enough. It's ridiculous to obsess so much about dieting when some people can't even obtain enough food to live. Be thankful for what you have. -

It does work but a lot of times won't last. Two years ago I was fat (around 140 lbs) and I went on a 500 calorie diet on the 1st of January. I thought it would be just another new year’s resolution that I'd soon forget but I continued eating that less as I found it wasn’t that difficult and I was losing weight whilst still eating junk food, albeit not much of it.
A few months in and I had to cut back more as the weight loss slowed down considerably. I'd be lucky if I lost a pound a week. By September I was eating 100 calories and was a UK size 4. I looked awful, I had difficulty sleeping most days, and I became obsessed by food and calories. I would spend hours on end just looking at labels in shops and then walk out with nothing or a bottle of water. I also spend hours reading books and magazines about the amount of calories in food and my favourite shows on TV were all about cooking. I was food obsessed!
People kept telling me how amazing I looked but I felt awful. I had difficulty walking as I’d soon get out of breath. I was so unfit. In the beginning it had been almost easy losing weight like that, but later on it was way too difficult. Eventually eating that less didn't work for me and I went on a mad binge. I gained all the weight back (with extras) in a matter of weeks! I literally went from a size 4 to 12 in just two months. I felt embarrassed to face people and more than anything depressed that all my hard work had gone down the drain.
My advice would be to really think about eating a balanced healthy diet and lose it the proper way, with exercise. I too need to follow that advice as I have an awful diet right now. Hopefully losing it the way that it’s recommended, the weight will come off and stay off. -

I dont understand why people try to say a diet counting calories doesnt lose weight.
I tried for years only eating vegetables and salad but was so hungry all the time that I caved in and binged.
Now I eat whatever I want but no more than 700 calories and all my friends have commented about how skinny I am since I lost the weight.
I eat crisps and chocolate and bread and whatever I want and it's easy because I'M not limiting myself to boring foods, sure you do get hungry still but it's bareable and better than the hunger from eating simply salad.
I know this sounds unhealthy but I make sure I still have fruit and salad etc under my calorie control at least every other day.
I dont even excersize
a) are ridiculously unhealthy
b) insides are ruined
c) your **** would see gillian mckeith into an early grave
d) massive bags under your eyes without make-up
e) halitosis
f) paler than Michael Jackson was
g) more ribs than an Auschwitz prisoner

no im not even underweight, to be honest I dont really stick to this all the time, sometimes i eat 2000 calories, sometimes i eat loads and have takeaways, other days i will eat
a yoghurt, speacial k, salmon and broccolo
but most days 700 calories
i dont stick to it as i said and compared to other people i think i am healthy considering most of my friends dont eat ANY fruit or veg, its all about the portion and calories
but i do admit i have some sort of unhealthy obsession with food but im not underweight so it doesnt matter -
