I wonder if this is true. 'The University of Sussex attempts to make the university more like Hogwarts by allowing the 2012 students to be sorted into Hogwarts houses upon arriving. Everyone is upset about the 9 grand fees a year so we had to do something to placate the masses'.

It's a hilarious idea but it won't work I don't think, not everyone will take it seriously and I'm not fond of queuing up on my first day of admission for hours to get put into an imaginary house, even if I am a massive fan of Harry Potter. I'd rather just have my degree for 3 and a half grand thanks.

HAHA brilliant!

I’m going to be studying Psychology at Sussex but not staying in halls. Anyone in the same position? x

I've just submitted my accomadation choices. I've chose Swanborough as my 1st choice, I really hope I get it, has anyone else chosen this or having any thoughts on the accomadation.

Info: Ive Chosen Sussex as my 1st choice to study Economics BSC, the new academic building for economics looks rather good haha

Swanborough is my first option too, I really doubt they will give me a room there though, only 250 rooms available and I have a conditional offer :frown:

Firmed for American Studies, and reading through here i feel like i'm the only one!

For accommodation i have put:
1. Lewes Court (2)
2. Stanmer Court
3. Swanborough
4. Northfield
I would like an en suite, but think i will put Stanmer further down the list now as i don't want to be somewhere so unsociable! Also thinking about adding some more options just in case

Really hoping that i meet their conditions!

You do all sorts! History, literature, politics, film, culture... And you get to spend the third year at a university in America too
As far as career prospects go it's pretty broad. Media, journalism, teaching, tv/film, finance, public relations, politics... Lots of options which is good for me because i don't really have any specific career in mind.

Does the lack of a communal area in park village affect socialising in your opinion, because i imagine it would be quite difficult, having the communal area completely separate from the actual accommodation. In fact i was wondering where people even eat/cook considering how tiny the kitchen is!

It is annoying not having a communal area but tbh people tended to prop their doors open and we all sat in the hall way and ate so i wouldn't worry, you become an expert at eating off your lap :P The kitchens are fine between six (theres one on the top floor one on the bottom) i never had a problem with space infact it worked out better than say park houses as you only had six peoples worth of mess :P
I would also say that during freshers you meet soooooooooo many people outside of your house, from societies and sports clubs and on your course that after a while your hopping from house to house each night eating in different places and socialising elsewhere. Theres always the porters office, if you go upstairs there is a TV room/ table tennis place and another seperate lounge with computers that a lot of people use, if there was a big group of us we tended to go there an order takeaway.
