Re: Year 11's - How many hours of revision are doing a day?Well, I have a pretty good memory already and have revised most of the stuff before so my revision will only be solidifying what I know so my brain will not be fried after 6 hours! (after all that is like school) I am definitely not revising for 6 hours straight but throughout the day am having more structured revision sessions and then more fun revision throughout the day (vocab testing online, maths games , making powerpoints).(Original post by >Username<)
Is this working for you? And how do you manage it?
I think having goals is important for example I know that to go to the uni I want and do the course I want I need to get all A*s so that is a very important motivator. Another thing is to give yourself rewards, e.g. an afternoon off with friends or even revising with friends as you don't feel guilty for not revising but you are still socialising.
Good Luck with your revision!

Re: Year 11's - How many hours of revision are doing a day?
Well I did 5 minutes today... 10 minutes yesterday... 10 minutes Sunday... all for Physics. 1 page of the CGP revision guide and corresponding work book per day.
Well what can I say, I'm a workaholic I guess!
...
(My friend just announced on Facebook she's done 7 hrs revision today. 5 and a half hours were at school revision sessions. Which I couldn't be bothered to turn up to. Should I be panicking? ... Nah I'll just keep chilling

Re: Year 11's - How many hours of revision are doing a day?
To everyone doing GCSEs: I'm in year 12 now, and I really wish that I could go back in time a year and tell my younger self to calm down and stop stressing out over revision. In hindsight, about 1-2 hours a day would have been just as effective, and I ended up with 11A*s and an A . . . Just chill a bit guys, 12 hours a day is ridiculous =) Just try and revise effectively rather than for hours at a time.

Re: Year 11's - How many hours of revision are doing a day?
i've got 12 exams in the summer, i had more last year but im being really lazy. Can someone tell me a way to motivate myself?? Right now there's no structure to my timetable...i don't have one. I just do a subject a day (Biology, Maths, Human Physiology, Geography, History and R.E) probably 2-3 hrs of revision. Any tips?
(i want to get A*'s in those subjects btw) -

What revision technique did you use? -
Re: Year 11's - How many hours of revision are doing a day?Yea it's working although obviously I will only really be able to tell when I get my results. I just say how many hours I want to do in each subject, write it down and then do around half an hour, take a break and then start again until I have done around 5 hours. anymore than 5hours for goes this early is overkill.(Original post by >Username<)

Re: Year 11's - How many hours of revision are doing a day?Hey, for a revision timetable I would recommend using a website called 'getrevising'. You enter all of your exams and their dates and then you can prioritise subjects by using adjusting sliders. So for the subjects you want A*s for you can prioritise those and then it will generate a revision timetable based on that and your exam dates (obviously the first few are prioritised more as you have less time to revise them). I found it really great as it made my timetable structured and varied so I can stay more motivated during each session. Bare in mind that each day has six revision slots on the timetable, though. It also leaves blank spaces that you can add to, leave for breaks and fill in other commitments which is also really useful.(Original post by izzaha)

As for motivation, there isn't really anything I can do to help you! Just stay focused, vary your revision and work hard! It will all pay off in the summer.

Re: Year 11's - How many hours of revision are doing a day?
I'm doing 10 subjects, started around a week before Easter - doing around 6-7 hrs a day, but aim to do much more (preferably 10...) as I want to do as many past papers as possible (you can't go wrong with that) and I secretly want to give all my teachers a whole load of past papers to mark - they said they're ready for being bombarded with them from GCSE and A-Level students. ;l
Finished revising IGCSE Chemistry in 4 days. Now I'm on to past papers, from May 2005 all the way to June 2011. Yay...
I'm obviously aiming for straight A*s but due to the fact that I'm not a native English speaker and also that the grade boundaries for English Lit. & Lang. are ridiculously high compared to other subjects, I'm worried I'll end up getting a B - my school has really high expectations as, well, let's just say it has one of the best GCSE and A-Level results in the country, so a B is pretty much a 'fail' and some people cried when they got an A in their Science Module.
Anyway, I thought I might as well start revision now so that I have my brain in gear and not in the lazy mode, which it tends to go on during the summer holidays. Plus, my first exam (IGCSE Maths Paper 3) is on 11th May, which is only just over a month left.
BUT....
I have no revision timetable structured. Which is not good.Last edited by yl95; 06-04-2012 at 19:17. -
Dude, same here. I got the same maths exam.(Original post by yl95)

I started revising ages ago, by consistently doing past papers.
I got 96% in our school official mock on the January 2012 3H paper
How else are you revising for maths? -
Re: Year 11's - How many hours of revision are doing a day?Ooh, I did the mock and got 86%(Original post by lohoj)

Could have done better since I basically crammed for my mocks (not proud.)
I've finished doing IGCSE revision since it's pretty easy stuff and our teacher gave us past papers to do during the lesson several weeks ago and I did the January 2012 & June 2011 papers - need to hand them since the mark schemes aren't online -_-
Are you doing FSMQ? How are you revising for it, and are you doing any other IGCSE exams because I'm doing IGCSE Chem and Physics (and the AQA Physics...)?
I'm basically going to do exercises and just do all the past papers available.Last edited by yl95; 07-04-2012 at 19:39.
